Icon sets in ObjectDock Plus?

I recently upgraded my copy of ObjectDock to the Plus version and am enjoying it thoroughly. However, I was wondering if there was an easy way to change the icon set from LaST to something else?

By default, ObjectDock automatically uses the LaST icon theme set. I've downloaded several icon sets from the IconPackager section of the site which I've used to change my default icons in Windows. However, I'd also like those same icons to be used in ObjectDock, but the only way I can see how to do so is by right-clicking on each and every icon I have in my docks, changing them manually one by one. That seems rather unnecessary to me, as there ought to be a much faster and easier way to do so.

Any ideas? Or is there something I don't know about since I'm still rather new to this?

hi sturm i am in same position too, plus rocks, but i am still setting up the docs and have not got to the icon part yet...have u tried extracting the icon files to the folder that LaST us using to hold the other icon files? that's what i will do when i am done with the docs.but i don't see a way that you can assign icons automatically to docklets, as each one is/can be unique yes? but im new too...

oh, ps. I used tuneup 2006 to automatically set all the icons to a set that i liked (system icons) and when u drag those into a tab, they are honered. so i guess i don't really know what this question is all about!

No matter where I would put the new icon set, I'd still have to set each and every item to use that new icon, I believe. And I'd rather have a new icon set in a different folder anyway just for organization and cleanliness purposes.

Any other ideas?

SturmB...as far as I know you cannot change all the icons at once in ObjectDock. One thing you can do is drag your icons from your desktop that have already been changed to any of your docks, and they should remain the same. After that you will have to change each icon or png one at a time. I use all .png's on my docks because of the smaller file size. Here's a neat little free tool you can use to convert your .icons to .png's in a snap. Link

One thing I do is keep all my different icon themes in their own folders and just send them to ->Stardock -> Objectdock. Then when I want to change them I can find them quick. And as a matter of preference I got rid of the laST icom folder since my taste in icons is different.

Ms. terigw...As long as you put the backgrounds you've downloaded into the backgrounds folder in Objectdock you should be able to change them easily. When you go to change them, be default, the tabbed backgrounds are listed at the top and the side docks are listed on the bottom (in some cases you will also see the tabbed backgrounds listed in the bottom section...some will work some won't...you'll figure this out as well over time). Unfortunately they don't give you much room in regards to the names of the backgrounds so its sometimes hard to read what they are, but you also should see a pic of the dock. After awhile you'll get the hang of it and won't even think about it.

Since the icons are just bitmaps referenced by the filename, it may be possible (with a lot of preparation!) to setup 'default' icon names for each 'type' of icon (eg word_doc, excel_doc, etc, etc) and refer the OD icons to those names only.

Then, when you want to change icon sets you copy your new set (also pre-named to the 'defaults') over the old ones. You'd need to close OD during the icons changeover or at least restart it afterwards.

Not elegant, but do-able - if not a little obsessive IMHO.

Maybe someone could write a script or mini-app that manages it automatically?
