Thank the gods, Jack Bauer is back for day 24, day 5

24 is back with a vengeance.

It's nice to have one of the most tense and intense shows back on the tube for the late fall/spring TV season.

It's also great to see Manny Coto, one of the best SciFi TV writers and producer types for modern TV, is heavily involved. You can see it in the writing and execution so far. For those that wonder where you might know the name from, try the final season of Trek: Enterprise, among other shows.

For the folks that aren't watching this season of 24, I feel so sorry for you. It's great TV, even if you do have to suspend some disbelief during the series. Truly edge of your seat entertainment.

Up to hour number 3 of the current season already. Man this show flies, even if you have to wait 7 days between episodes in most weeks.

I love this show too. I never watched it when it first came out but then I rented the first season on DVD and quickly became hooked.

Amen. About to start hours 3-4 now, on the HD Comcast DVR (read: no commercials unless they look cool as I'm skipping past them, and I am paying attention).

It's my favorite drama this season, apart from Battlestar Galactica. Hear that, Sopranos?

My personal advice is it's best to watch it like Fox aired these first 2 nights. At least 2 episodes in a block.

I'm also thrilled that Scrubs is back with new episodes.

I wish his grandpa could come back for the 23rd...

latour - huh?

Rosc - even bigger huh?

So what did everyone think? I can't understand why former President Palmer would have contacted the first lady if she's such a basket case. I guess that's the point is we are supposed to be figuring out if she's just delusional or if he really did give her some information. I guess we'll find something out next week.

And what's up with the traitor in the white house. How could anyone watch innocent people being executed and continue to participate? I guess it has to be greed.

HIH - Chloe is one of my favorites now too. It took a while for her to grow on me but now I really like her.

Hey and all shows should be liike 24 and have a new episode on every, single week. I hate it when you turn on to watch a favorite show only to find out its a rerun.

So far I love this season. As was stated, there is some "suspension of disbelief" like where are all the secret service agents and the blatent use of cell-phones for super-secret communications in super-secret facilities.

I really like Chloe's character. It took a while, but I grew to like her in the last season.
Not sure if I like Sean Astin's inclusion or not, we'll have to see how his character develops.

24 is probably my favorite show. It's up there with Lost and Battlestar. I do like that while 24's episodes are loaded with cliffhangers and subplots, each one actually achieves something. That is one thing that pisses me off about Lost. That and the 6 reruns in between new episodes.

24 is one of my favorite shows but is so intense that it is really hard for me to watch sometimes. Last night's espisodes were especially disturbing, but you can't look away at the same time. Nothing the writers do surprises me anymore because the show is so unpredictable. I think that is one of the show's best qualities though, knowing that they will do and have done just the opposite of what you expect.

The guy who plays Jack Bauer. His grandfather is Tommy Douglas, a legendary Canadain socialist, NDP leader, and the father of medicare in Canada. He was recently voted greatest Canadian of all time. The election is on the 23rd, and we are having some "problems" with our healthcare system, and a lack of really good candidates. Hence, if he could come back with a vengence, that would be great.

I think they said why, but it was kind of quick. President Logan didn't like Palmer all that much, but his wife had become friends with him. Since Palmer needed to get the info to the President, he contacted her, as the closest person he felt he could trust. Probably had something to do with the mole in the Logan's staff. But I guess we'll only know for certain as the show plays out.

Sadly, as awsome as this show is, there is nothing in it that can make up for that idiot child of a daughter.

Plus, I have a hard time taking a Counter-Terrorism Unit seriously that puts someone like Jack Bauer's daughter on the staff. I mean, don't you have to have a college degree? Work experience? Maybe even be hand-picked from some lesser agency after you've proved your superior counter-terrorism skills? Given her rock-stupid behavior in the first two seasons, I cannot for the life of me understand how she's a value-add to the team.

When I saw they put her on staff in Season 3, I had to give it up. Regretfully, true. But give it up I did.

And then she was neither seen nor heard from again. They learned their lesson.

Believe it or not, I never watched this series until this past week. Hubby wanted to see it so we watched... I loved it. Think this will be one we have to purchase season tapes for... VERY good.

See, another good thing about the show is that since every season has completely different plots, they also bring in new characters in each one. I think this will make it easier for you to catch on to; we only started watching at season 3 and went back and rented the first one later. We still have yet to see the second though. The show is very addicting, isn't it? Glad you got hooked! It's very entertaining

All I have to say about the second season: the cougar. Anyone who saw that season KNOWS exactly what I am talking about.

I thought season 4 was perhaps the best season so far.

latour - Thanks for explaining. I had no idea. Now I get it.

She's gone. Come back, stute. It's fun. You won't be sorry. I'm sure there'll be another annoying person on this season but you just have to get past that.

I read that Kim will be back at some point this season. Let's hope it's brief.
