Wireless Keyboard and Mouse Issues?

I started using the latest version of Multiplicity yesterday. I am utilizing the Microsoft Comfort Keyboard and Microsoft Wireless Laser Mouse 6000. The software that came with the keyboard and mouse is installed on both systems and works fine for the most part. The issue is mainly with the mouse and certain programs. The problem that I am seeing is when I use certain programs (WinRAR for example) the cursor jumps around the screen (this is on the secondary computer) and I am unable to direct its course. Using Alt+F4, I close WinRAR and the problem goes away. Also, if the screen is at a size where there is a horizontal scroll bar, the screen automaticly scrolls to the far right and I cannot go back. I have seen this issue in Explorer windows as well. All this is on the secondary machine.
So, the question is, are there known issues using a wireless mouse and keyboard? If so, are there any solutions and work-arounds?
Thank you in advance for any feedback.

A wireless keyboard should make no difference as its only wireless until it gets to the primary.

When you have the problem with WinRAR, is the cpu usage on either of the 2 machines high?

CPU usage on the secondary machine jumped to 94% while WinRAR was open. The primary machine was running fine at 2%.

Well thats why things start to act oddly.  Is it winrar using all the cpu or some other process?

Does this happen if Multiplicity is not connected to that PC too?

It just isn't WinRAR. For some reason there is the same effect on the "Program Files" directory on the secondary system's C: drive as well as Zone Alarm when there is a window that can scroll from left to right. There are no issues as explained when I unload Multiplicity from both systems. So, if there are no issues when the program is unloaded, then CPU usage shouldn't be the cause.
I just tried a regular keyboard and mouse (not wireless) and the problem is still there. So I guess the title of this thread should be changed.
I temporaroly shut down both firewalls to see if it could have been an issue with that, but the problem still persists. I think I am running short on ideas.
Perhaps the issue is with certain mice that can scroll from left to right on the mouse wheel. However, I was able to disable that feature on both systems, and the problem continues.

If the cpu usage is high with WinRAR with or without MP running then that will explain the problem with the jumpy mouse.  MP simply isn't getting the cpu cycles it needs to process the incoming information from the primary pc.

The scrolling is interesting though.  MP does contain support for left to right scrolling MS mice and it sounds like this is getting confused and thinking you are scrolling constantly.  Have you tried unloading the MS mouse process (point32.exe) and seeing if that stops it?

Going through the task manager and turning off point32.exe rids the problem, but I lose features with the mouse and keyboard (i.e. the fourth and fith buttons on the mouse and shortcut keys on the keyboard) Even if I would live without these features, am I going to have to end the process every time I load up Windows or go into msconfig and disable it there. Doing this won't solve the problem though..

I thought that a MP secondary didn't support anything other that right, left, and scroll? Was I confused?

What version of intellipoint do you have installed?

Zubaz: If you have a MS mouse then MP can relay the horz scroll wheel too.  Though in this case its not working quite right (there is no documented interface to obtain this info and I suspect thats why there is a problem here)

Thanks for the info Neil. What about buttons 4 and 5 on MS mice?

Well, I am not quite sure how it happened, but the problem is no more. I was having issues with the two computers not working at all together, after switching out the hub for the router and reinstalling Multiplicity on the primary machine, I am not witnessing the issue anymore. Too bad we couldn't figure out why that was happening. Thanks for the help.
