Window's 'biggest security threat ever' leaves all versions vulnerable..

Security experts call this the worst threat yet

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/10684853/
A flaw, discovered last week, that allows viri and spyware to infect a computer merely by opening an image was recently made worse by hackers who published the vulnerable source code.  A new patch will be out around Jan. 10, but many security experts are recommending people  to use an unofficial patch and to be careful following  unknown links and opening e-mail.  (stuff like this is why i stopped the musical vision threads)

OOPS... The statement from microsoft and the patch link that i had placed here was a statement from their last security warning.  I thought that it was too good to be real.  They are all starting to look the same...

To clarify, the new threat is real.  A second comment i posted about a statement from microsoft that included a link to a patch was not current.

Patched, rebooted, and hoping this doesn't cause too many 'net outages.

I believe you have to uninstall the patch, before you install the official one from Microsoft.
