A DIET THAT WILL MAKE YOU A FATSO

50 percent of Americans are obese

Filmmaker Morgan Spurlock has produced a new documentary called “Super Size Me.” Spurlock uses himself as the guinea pig. The documentary takes a look at America’s addiction to fast food very up-close and personal. For one month, the 33-year-old Spurlock ate nothing but McDonald's food--breakfast, lunch and dinner.

After only a few days, Spurlock started puking up meals, struggled with depression and had wild mood swings. He even lost his sex drive. By the end of the month, he gained 25 pounds, his cholesterol ballooned from 160 to 240 and doctors were alarmed by his liver toxicity. The three doctors monitoring him were shocked most of all by his liver.

Spurlock got the idea for his movie in 2002 when he heard about four people who filed suit against McDonald's for making them extremely fat. The world's largest restaurant company responded by saying that McDonald's food was good and nutritious. Spurlock was skeptical.

It says a lot about our society when obese people sue restaurants for making them fat, wealthy executives and lawyers defend a Big Mac's nutritive value, and a reality show lets average Americans watch someone get fat and depressed.

I am really looking forward to seeing this documentary when it finally gets released. It should be very educational as to what we all should be putting into the bodies God gave us.

Thanx so much for just using the word "Fatso". I haven't heard that word in years! Ahhh, I got a good laugh.

What I'd like to see is if one who exercises regularly can eat fastfood for breakfast, lunch, and dinner without suffering from those things. I'd try it myself, but I don't want to be a fatso.

Marvin,

What is amusing is that you support republicans, who do you think own and run these companies? You don't want to have your taxes raised and you think voting republican is the way to go. But you are upset that society is controlled by a corporation such as Mcdonalds. Make the connection.

You are a busy writer aren't you?

I think that you would still have issues.  You might not gain weight, but the salt and saturated fat would get you sooner or later.

I have heard that they are phasing out the "super size" due to the lawsuits against them.  They are going back to "Large".  Of course, they still are making a "Small" actually small, but that is a different topic of conversation.  "everything in moderation" is a better approach to life, anyway.

I will be interested to hear about the liver toxicity. I bet it is connected to not drinking enough water with the diet. If they are drinking only beverages like sodas, their bodies won't be able to get the toxins out. One of the more important parts of diet is drinking enough water.

Did you know that if you only eat candy you will also get poor health? Perhaps we should ban candy.  Sheesh. Anyone who doesn't know that fast food is bad for you at this point and dies as a result is a good candidate for the Darwin awards.

Brad: Indeed. Once a while, I go out, but it's with knowledge that fast fast is not too healthy.
