Dark Icon's

Resizing

When I am making Icons I start in either 296 or 512...I find it easier to see what I am doing. When I go to 'resize' them..or even just make the pgn's smaller...a lot of the time I find they are suddenly too dark to see the detail or even get a good idea of what it is (Printers, Camera's, etc...Folders and files are usually okay).

Does/has anyone else run into this? Is there a trick to fix this, like the number of pixels I have it set for when I begin in Photoshop or something like that? Or am I starting in too big a size? OR....

I dunno. I would like to hear from other's who have run into this and anyone who has figured a way around it or through it without compromising their original design and intention.

Thanks.

I think you'll have better luck starting at 256 max. In some cases you may need to make a 128 verson for the smaller icons.
To see what you're doing, just zoom in on the image.

I make them at 190 x 190 pixels and set at 72 pixels per inch, but they are distorted just a tad on resize to the smaller icons. I believe Koasati's answer was the best. I am also open to change if one of the more seasoned vets has a bettter reccomendation.

I was hoping for more response on this. I guess everyome's still busy with the Holidays.

One little trick that helps some with the 'darkening' of resized png's to icons that HAS worked here and there has been to duplicate the image and set the copy to 'screen'. This has occasionally worked to lighten it and bring the detail back.

Still looking for other ideas, though.
