I got to talk with a lot of guys from a lot of different units in Desert Storm. I also saw some of the best of living (indoor chow hall and day room, flush toilets... even a swimming pool); all the way down to a couple of GP Smalls in the desert, no chow hall, no day room, and the latrine was an E tool (shovel) in one hand and a wad of MRE toilet paper in the other.
What I learned from both experiences was, the more troops had, the more they had to complain about. With just a few exceptions, those living in the dust took it as "the way it goes" while the troops with luxuries complained. The funny part was, it was the luxuries they complained about the most.
I've been accused of being "too hoo~AH", but to me, if I was in the field, put me in the field, none of this halfway crap!!

Of course, it wouldn't have killed anyone if we had more than 4 videos for the TV/VCR, now would it? I mean, how many times can you watch Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Coming to America, Jewel of the Nile and The 7th Sign!! ;~D
