Bush Avoids Duty Again!

Oh yeah, like he's busy or something.

Oh my goodness, that wily Bush is at it again. I can't believe he isn't doing his civic duty. Crawford needs him!

WASHINGTON (Reuters) -
President George W. Bush had to explain that he was a little busy running the United States when he got called for jury duty.

Bush never received the summons to appear at a court in Crawford, Texas, for jury duty on Monday and the White House learned about it through media reports, White House spokesman Scott McClellan said on Thursday.

"We have since called the court to inform them that the president has other commitments on Monday, and that he would like to reschedule his jury duty," McClellan said.

So at least Bush is in town, but goodness me... couldn't he find time in his busy schedule to get over to the Milam County Courthouse and serve?

One more way Bush has shirked his civic duty. Yeah, right.

Let's face it, news of dubya shirking resposibilities is hardly new. I think we actually expect it and are dissappointed when he doesn't do it... ::

Seriously, not that big of a deal. Hell i've blown off jury duty before. It's our right as americans to do so!

That's my favorite part. Yeah, he's got more important things to do than serve on a jury in Milam County, Texas. Like going on foreign tours or biking or something.

Just a single comment.

Piss poor appologists straining peas again!

Not an issue since a President should never be hung up in jury duty. To include him had to be a hoax.

I disagree. To not be a registered voter (from which lists of potential jurors are drawn) would be a crass oversight. The Bush staffer who didn't register him to vote in Crawford, Texas? That person's head would roll. Especially if Bush showed up on voting day in 2000/2004 and his records weren't in the system...

Lists of potential jurors are arbitrary. If he was registered in Milam County he would be eligible for jury duty, just like everyone else. Just because he's the President of the US doesn't mean he's above that mundanity of life. It just means he's too busy in the exectuive branch to participate in the judiciary branch.
