Pat Robertson Gaffs It Again!

"I'd like to say to the good citizens of Dover: if there is a disaster in your area, don't turn to God, you just rejected Him from your city," Pat Robertson

Er sorry Pat but aren't you guys arguing that Intelligent Design IS NOT an attempt by Christians to peddle their beliefs via the education system? If Intelligent Design is not a Christian argument for the teaching of Christian beliefs then why would a rejection of Intelligent Design constitute a rejection of the Christian god?

Please explain."

So by replacing the Christian pro-ID members of the Dover school board, and replacing them with non-ID's...
I see and concur with your logic, BigRick. Robertson should have come out 'pro-ID' more clearly and linked with God-fearing evangelical Chirstianity before condemning the good people of Dover, PA.

I don't doubt that Robertson and other religious types abuse ID to get their way. That doesn't mean that Intelligent Design needs to have anything to do with a diety or a higher power, though, any more than any other self-managing system needs to. Awareness comes in many forms, and we are a huge network of genetic information. It is patently ignorant to say there has to be a God, but then it is also patently ignorant to claim that anything but nihilisitc chance is tainted by religion...

I believe you are speaking about Dover Delaware. It is the state capital of the state of Delaware...its pretty small so I know its easy to miss!

I lived there for two years. It is surrounded by the Omish community but the town (and it is a town, not a city) of Dover is about half liberal half conservative, though the liberals are more political I think. Not that has anything necessarily to do with this.

It was the first state, and if you want to know about it you can read about it here. Link

But really its not all that exciting!Buwhahahah. Just wanted you to know Dover is in DELAWARE and is the capital city not WILMINGTON...like so many people think.......hehe.

Well Pfft.....color me stupid...I was hoping my old town of Dover DELAWARE was making the news.

Sorry, my bad.....carry on!!

~walks off shaking head for not at least checking that~

Pat's a private citizen, entitled to make himself look as bigoted and stupid as he wishes. His conclusion as to the effect of the school board's decision is silly, but hey, it's his God-given right to shoot off his mouth.

First, Brappp!  I wanted to post this.

Second, BRAPP!  Wrong!

Attack him for what he said, not for what you want him to say!

You know you had a home run.  But you missed first base and were tagged out!

How's this for a home run? What else but the wrath of God upon the innocent from one who advocates assassination?

al franken does one of the best vocal imitations of pat robertson i've ever heard. he also has pat's mannerisms and facial expressions down...but the voice. it's almost as if god is punishing robertson by imparting unto al such a gloriously hilarious gift.

I guess that's the advantage/disadvantage of timezones. I'm sure this works in swings and roundabouts. No reason why you can't wrap your more informed and insightful opinions in your own article DG.

Attack him for what he said, not for what you want him to say!

You'll have to clarify this comment for me? I dragged the quote from some news item i found on Google News. As far as I'm aware the quote is correct. As such the implication stands.

You know you had a home run. But you missed first base and were tagged out!

I didn't I realise this was a competition but then I guess that explains why you were recently seen shouting "I'm Number 1! I'm Number 1! I'm Number 1!". You know quantity does neccessarily infer quality DG.

You'll have to forgive my lack of competitive spirit on this one. Ive just been too busy banging all the cheerleaders in the locker room to give a toss about the call to "Batter Up". We're all here for different reasons I guess. So its not so much that I missed 1st base as it is that i skipped it and went straight to 3rd.... one glorious innings after another I might add.

:0

So as above write your own article. Im sure the world waits with baited breath. I was only interested in highlighting the not so hidden truth in what PR has said and how it confirmed what non-Christians have known all along.

Bizarre isn't it. And here I was thinking Christians were pro-Free Will. I guess that only applies under pain of death. Choose God or choose death. Nice.

If Intelligent Design is not a Christian argumen

It is not.  Creation is.  Dont put this with him.  He may claim it, and they may claim it, but it is not a Christian concept.

IN all honesty, and I am not defending Pat the twerpl, but he did not call down the wrath of god, he merely said that when the next disaster hits, dont call on god.  And I find that offensive.

ID / Creationism? O.k maybe not precisely the same thing but for the purposes of the point at hand I think you're just quibbling here. ID is the conduit through which Creationist beliefs will be pushed into the education system.

You can craft your wording all you like but anyone whose ever taken even a couple of minutes to read into the background of the likes of IDs leading propronents including Michael Behe, William Dembski, Jonathan Wells and Stephen C. Meyer not to mention that conservative Christian think tank, the Discovery Institute knows exactly what their strategy is and understands that a Christian based belief system is ultimately what their trying to push.

If Intelligent Design is not a Christian argument for the teaching of Christian beliefs then why would a rejection of Intelligent Design constitute a rejection of the Christian god? Right on. Intelligent Design was indeed designed to incorporate the Hebraic-Christian God into the workings of evolution. If not, then, why bother?--since many philosophers from the beginning implied that there is indeed an inexplicable force or mystifying undercurrent to the unfolding of the universe.
