your personal opinion about Sistani is strange, to say the least.
I see a great religious leader of Islam who does his best to promote peace and tolerance.
You see a self-serving power-hungry egoist and compare him to that impostor Sadr (who is no cleric at all). |
a lotta people thought khomeini was a much better alternative to the shah and his brutal savak. he was also considered a great muslim leader.
i didn't compare al-sistani to al-sadr. al-sadr is years away from being as clever as sistani. i doubt hell live half as long as he'd need to e a match for the master.
| I don't know why exactly you don't trust Sistani, but I am sure your opinion is based on ignorance. |
maybe because most extremely powerful men are dangerous...10 x more dangerous when they're as astute as sistani. you can disparage my ignorance as often as you feel the need. when you get bored, feel free to check out these two links.
this one will take you to an article i posted during the summer of 2004 on the day al-sadr's militia moved outta the mosque in najaf.
Link despite your assurances that the grand ayatollah is on our side, i don't believe he will receive or speak directly to any american regardless of office, portfolio, rank or mission.

| I for one respect Sistani, his position and his acts demand such respect and he deserves it |
figures. i can only imagine how impressed you are by good ol ahmadinejad.
