Microsoft renames anti-spyware to "Windows Defender"

It's not a joke, it's for real.

"

Microsoft's Windows AntiSpyware application, which entered beta testing last January, has been given a new name: Windows Defender.

"The name, after long consideration by our product marketing and branding folks, is Windows Defender! What's really cool about this name is that it's more positive than Windows AntiSpyware," wrote Jason Garms, group program manager for Microsoft's anti-malware team. "Windows Defender is about what Windows will do for customers, defending them from spyware and other unwanted software."

hmmm...maybe it will work better.
For the last 4 days it has permanently removed iwon toolbar which I uninstalled and went through, found and deleted over a yr ago. None of my other programs finds it at all.

I thought it was supposed to go Gold in July.  Guess that was more of Microsoft's vaporware campaign.

It is a good product tho.  A little too aggressive tho (it labels VNC as a possible Trojan).

Maybe Windows Shutters would have been more in theme?
