There has been a lot of controversy about Iraq trying to obtain Yellow Cake Uranium during Saddam's last year in power.  Altho there is no evidence that he was, there were documents that purported to show he was.  And now the truth comes out.  It appears that the French forged the Documents!

Why?  To embarrass the English and French and prevent them from going to war against Saddam!

OK, pupils, can anyone tell me what happened?  You, there in the third row.  yes?

That is right!  The US and Great Britain used that (along with other justifications) to depose Saddam?  So how effective were the French?

Well, if they had done nothing, the chances are good that Saddam would still be sipping Merlot with Chirac.  So by trying something deceitful and sneaky, they accomplished the exact opposite of what they wanted!

It had to be the French!  No one else is that inept.

Yep, I've been saying this for some time. One thing the site you link doesn't say is that France also controls the uranium industry in Niger.

We know that Iraq made overtures to buy uranium, but why they didn't pan out is left to wastes of skin like Joe Wilson. I don't think we'll ever know how intensly Iraq was trying, but I guess we can be thankful it didn't pan out for them.

You know what's funny?

Whenever one of our JU liberals posts an article in support of their position, everybody flocks to the article, studies it, and attempts to rebut some or all of its points. Some rebuttals are stronger than others. Some rebuttals resort to namecalling instead of reasonable debate. But there's lots of activity. Lots of thinking. Lots of discussion. Lots of conservatives considering the issue and trying to explain it in the context of their ideals.

Why is it that we never see Myrrander or Gene or any of their faction-mates step up to articles like this? Shouldn't this comments thread be full of liberal rebuttals? Apologetics for this story? Counter-evidence that either debunks the story or legitimizes it?

Come on, JU Liberals! We make a serious and honest attempt to explain away every little asshat allegation you make against our faction and its leadership. Will you not extend us the same courtesy, and come to the defense of the French who have been so supportive of your goals and ideals in recent years?

Come on, JU Liberals! This article makes France look bad! It makes Joe Wilson look bad! It makes your whole faction look bad! Hell it makes W and his cabal look good! Will you not step up in this moment of crisis? Have you nothing to say? No explanations to offer?

Just goes to show you, if you want something really screwed up, give it to the French to do!

I think they are afraid of being lumped together with the French.

That doesn't make any sense. Why would you be ashamed to associate with other people who share your views and oppose your enemy?

What do you want me to do, say they were right to forge documents? That makes them no better than the Bush administration.

They are myopic, small minded, loony, and ignorant.  But I never said they were idiots.

Well, except for Kerry, you know that French looking and speaking candidate?

I dont want you to do anything. I would like you to read and learn about stupidity.  If you can do that, then you can understand the meaning of this article.

Come on, JU Liberals!

OK. Firstly I'd like to point out that the reason for the difference you identify probably has a lot to do with that most of JU are Right Wing, but anyway.

My rebuttal: Chirac's a hard-core right winger, so of course he bunged it up! What else do you expect from the Right side of politics :>

Why would you be ashamed to associate with other people who share your views and oppose your enemy?

It's true I agree more often with Chirac than Bush, but we'd hardly be called political allies.

Sorry, I was referring to stutefish who seemed to want me to run in and start defending those who forged documents about WMDs.

I am not going to defend them!  But I am getting a good chuckle out of it.

No thoughts, latour, on the alleged reasons behind the French policy? No attempt to defend the French policy? No explanation of how the French policy is a righteous policy, and how this document-forging thing, ugly as it is, is a necessary part of that policy? No counter-examples? Nothing at all to convince the rest of us that the French government isn't really as stupid and evil as this story makes them seem?

I don't want you to run in and defend the document-forging. I'm just wondering if you'll run in and explain why it's either not as bad as it looks, in support of a good cause, misrepresentedm by the media, or outweighed by good deeds.

JU is predominantly conservative, but that doesn't seem to stop the resident liberals from posting their own partisan articles all the time. It just seems to stop them from putting up a partisan defense against conservative articles.

It seems like you and the other liberals here have no problem arguing that the Bush policies and actions are indefensible, even though the rest of us don't really shy away from defending them. But you seem to have a lot tougher time coming to the defense of opposition-faction policies.

No, it is not righteous policy, no it is not necessary, and yes, those who forged the documents are really as stupid and evil as they seem. And yes, it is as bad as it looks.

And if I argue that lying about the WMDs is indefinsible, then why do I have to defend forging documents about WMDs? And why is it that just because I critize Bush, I automatically have to like everyone that opposes them? Why do I have to fall into one of two holes on everything?

And why is it that I have to like everyone who doesn't like Bush? I mean, Kerry is pretty much just as bad in my books.

I dont think any but the most extreme lefties would take on the impossible task!

You see?  We can agree on somethings!
