The gratuitous soul-selling of MNF

Does anyone else hate the Monday night Football intro with its song and dance exalting the altar of GMC? You see part or all of about 80 GM vehicles, including the logo itself 8 times. This beautiful, sacred game is being whored out with every square inch of field, ball, and every split-second of airtime. Half-time is not brought to me by Snickers, Subway, Nissan, Lexus, or Autotrader.com, just like the weather isn't brought to me by Smuckers (you hear that, Today show?!). I love this game; I hate how it's selling out to advertising in every conceivable—and inconceivable—way. It's Mile High Field, Broncos, not Invesco Stadium, dammit!

Oh yes... and ironically, that is something that the EA version of the game picked up nicely... wonder if EA gets money for that placement as well?

You bet they do. Each year the EA sports franchises become more and more ad-infested... It's what they have to do to make up for the ridiculous expense of exclusive licenses and the completely lackluster sales.

Currently, Budweiser is sponsoring or "saluting" some MLB player of the game.

Sheesh. I'm waiting for the day that Shaq gets "Icy-Hot" tattooed across his forehead.

It pains me that the music and "style" of NFL films is also being co-opted for other companies. When I see a car commercial using something Sam Spence put together for the Sabols, it saddens me deeply.

To me, the work NFL Films has done IS football... even more than MNF even. Such a shame, such a shame...

Soon uniforms are gonna look like something from Nascar. Then soon after that player's names will be gone, they'll only be known by the logo on the jersey. After games people will be talking about the amazing dunk by "Tide" or the towering home run by "Budweiser" or the long touchdown run by "Wheaties".
