I'm Chubba Chubba

I've allowed myself to get quite chubba chubba.

My weight tends to fluctuate some, usually from mid-range healthy to high-range healthy, but right now I'm just plain overweight. When my weight starts to creep up (this typically happens when I am happy and things are going well), I have a fair amount of success knocking it back down with calorie-counting or Weight Watchers (believe it or not, I used to work as a Weight Watchers meeting leader, a job that I loved).

I'm not willing to fork over the money to get the new WW materials online or otherwise, and I've lost the key elements of my old material, so I'm going to go with calorie counting. Same difference.

I'm going to limit myself to about 1,200 calories a day, which should give me just the right rate of weight loss and will still fuel my body healthfully.

In order to add an element of accountability, I'm going to keep a food journal on my blog. This will probably be boring, but I'm going to leave it open for others to see and comment because I feel it will help me because of the accountability that will provide.

I've already screwed up today, and I haven't had supper yet, but my incomplete food journal for today is...

Breakfast:

5 cups of coffee with about 5 tsps. ea. creamer and 2 tbsp. Splenda: 300 calories (holy crap!)
1 and 1/2 cups fried potato squares (hey, I made them for Adrian's breakfast burritos and there was extra...someone had to eat them!): 200 calories
3 tbsp. ketchup: 48 calories

Lunch:

sandwich with 2 thin slices swiss and 1 tsp. spicy brown mustard: 280 calories
RC cola: 160 calories

And another...RC cola: 160 calories

Total: 1,148 calories (as of 2:55 pm...yikes)

Tomorrow I'll catch up with the rest of today's food journal when I write the next one.

So, there you have it. Completely uninteresting, but necessary.

No Chocolate? What are you thinking? What counts is that you are aware of what you are eating and you are trying to cut back. Good luck! Love, Mom

I am chubba chubba too! Since the whole being married thing, I have let myself go and I've gained about 10 lbs. A week ago I started a new diet called the DASH diet, which is much like weight watchers and so far I feel so much better about eating in general. I was thinking about keeping my results online as well. Maybe there's some way we can have a diet blog, kind of like the book blog. I wonder how we could start that...hmmmm

Haha, well I made some yummy brownies a few days ago. Orian just about has them finished up!

Thanks. I'm at a weight that I'm not really comfortable with, and while I know I can do it on my own, I think knowing that other people will be seeing what I'm eating will help me keep things under control. Peer pressure, I guess, hehe.

I've seen a pic of you, and you're one great looking chick!

That happens really quickly.

Great idea, alison. With your suggestion, I opened a dieting blog group for that purpose. I think it will be a fun way to help encourage each other and having a public food log could really help us stay on our toes, hehe. It's a fabulous idea.

If you'd like to join the blog group, let me know. Here's the link to the blog.

Add 1 serving (11) potato chips to the list. What's with me and potatoes today? Hmm. Anyways, 150 calories.

Total so far: 1,298...not awful yet...not great, either.

Tomorrow will be better though. I'm going to address the coffee/soda situation and save myself about 600 calories.

You need to cut back on the caffeine too, Tex... 5 cups of coffee and 2 sodas is a bit on the high side.

And remember, if you eat a little too much some days, you can make up for it with some moderate exercise. (Or vigorous, if you prefer). Even a casual 1/2 hour stroll can burn up to 150 extra calories. And 15 minutes of sex should use up at least 100.
