Strange software conflict..I think

Internt locking up

Has anyone had a problem with web surfing after installing the object desktop programs? Internet Explorer still loads, but then I'm usually limited to one page before it locks up. For instance, my hotmail account will load and show my e-mails, but clicking on them does nothing. I can select all of them by placing a check in each box, but clicking "delete" or any other function has no effect. The same type thing happens on every site I've tried. Has anybody heard of this or can anyone tell me how to fix it? tonystall

What exactly did you install?

I did notice starting today, if I use IE and try to open a link in a new window IE runs away and hides. Even 'file' - 'new window' makes it go byebye.

I've installed stardock central, objectdock plus, windowblinds 5, desktopX, theme manager, icon packager, cursor XP plus, object bar, drivescan, and IconX... I've never used drivescan or iconx, but have used all the others. I have ObjectDock, cursor XP, DesktopX, and about 12 widgets loading at start up, but have plenty of memory.

Un-install Theme Manager

No problems here. Must be IE. Currently have seven tabs open in Opera. I'm running the new WB5 beta. Also using the Desktop Sidebar until Stardock gets a ObjectBar plugin for Outlook. The only OD software not up to date is Iconpackager. I'm still using 3.00b.093

Gary's usually right, and from your list the only items I'm missing are Drivescan and Theme Manager.

You might want to try that cache thing. There's a fella here has written a tutorial on the subject, but his name escapes me right now.

Bichur - if IE is just shutting down, then it's a script error...... http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=c717d943-7e4b-4622-86eb-95a22b832caa&DisplayLang=en

You ask for it. And yes I'm sure it will be a Corker.

I think I'd follow Gary's advice first tho.

For some reason your problem kinda says spyware, browser hijacker to me but I'm starting to run down so I'm not thinking straight. Getting late here on the east coast. Gonna wander off to lala land. Good luck resolving your IE problems Bichur.

Not yet you're not.........

Go to the Microsoft update site...you're looking for the msinstaller update. Check the 'installed updates' and see if it was ever installed. You do have SP2 installed, correct?
