Why Choosing A True Conservative for SCOTUS is a Bad Idea

Compromise is not always a bad thing

As the Nut-jobs on the far right are bemoaning President Bushes choice of Harriet Meir's for the Supreme Court, Without any real
reason too except for the facts she has no paper trail to follow.

Nominating a conservative along the lines of Micheal Luttig would cause an all out war in congress {both houses}.

We already know the nut-jobs on the left are looking for a reason to filibuster any reason will do, but the nomination of a true conservative would put the lefts precious abortion rights at risk and there is nothing that gets the left foaming at the mouth faster than a perception that someone might overturn Roe V Wade.

Remember with the left it really does come to ABORTION.

Now the choice of Harriet Meir's has the far right in a tizzy, Including my sweet ANN {coulter} and while I usually agree with my sweet Ann, this time I do not agree.

President Bush is having a hard time in office, his vital numbers are at an all time low, He needs to get this nomination through the vetting process and onto the bench.

It all comes down to Trust and I trust President Bush to make good choices about the SCOTUS.

Harriet should fly through the grilling the Senate is sure to give her and be approved and on the bench by Thanksgiving.

This country does not need the Senate brought to another standstill and the nomination of a "Micheal Luttig" type candidate would do just that.

A true conservative, no matter how conservative, could only help to offset Ruth Buzzi Ginsberg.  As long as that mental midget is allowed to have a vote on the SCOTUS, no one's rights are safe.

Right now as the bench stand it's 4 and 4 with Sandy O being the swing vote, add another conservative and it would be 5 to 4 in favor of the right and face it doc the left would destroy the country before giving up the only power they have {the courts}

I would not call Anthony Kennedy a conservative.  Right now it is 4-3 with 2 swings.

And your point is?

point is doing away with the filibuster would backfire on the right, they are not going to hold the entire congress forever whip.

face it doc the left would destroy the country before giving up the only power they have

No, MM, YOU face it, the power that they currently have is what's ALREADY destroying this nation, they have no CHOICE but to give it up, and instead of boldly seizing the power that was given to our party BY THE VOTERS, he makes a wishy-washy move like this?

you already know my stance on the farleft whip, I agree they are already destroying the nation, but a conservative would hasten that destruction.

trust the man, too, don't get me wrong, but he isn't infallible, you know? I think he's making a dreadful mistake, and time is running out with elections coming up in November. We could very well lose part of the control we now have...and then what? He blew his chance, that's what.

I am going to trust Bush that he knows who ms. miers is and had a good idea about her values and how she MIGHT vote in the future.
