It would also serve to remind the world that anti-semitism did not die with Adolph Hitler.
Apparently Mr. Blair thinks it did. This is not a memorial to anti-Semitism today, it is a memorial to the 6 million Jews that died in the holocaust. Removing the monument or changing it's name will not remove that fact. The insensitivity exibited by Blair is typical of many others with the attitude that this happened so many years ago, it won't bother anyone. Well, it DOES!
Of course Jews might not react violently if Britain offends Israel while apparently such a reaction is to be expected when Arabs are offended.
No, Jews will not react violently, they never do in cases like this.
In Israel, we commemorate Holocaust Memorial Day in mid May, a siren blows signalling in a minutes silece. All traffic comes to a halt and everyone stands at attention for 60 seconds. Most cars driven by Palestinians do not come to a halt, neither do most stand in silence . Why? Because many of them feel that they are lumped in with the nazis and ar blamed for the attrocities done to the Jews. This was not the case and must be said. Too much anger goes unquestioned throughout the world and all that results in is more anger.
Making a mockery of event by including other events, including events that have never happened (the Palestinians, for example, still exist and their number seems to have only increased during the "genocide" they allege they were subject to), is not the right way to commemorate World War II. The Bosnians presumably deserve their own special day, but their fortunes were not as intertwined with Britain as the genocide of World War II was.
You are right, genocide against Palesinians at the hands of Israelis never happened. There have been thousands of Palestinians killed by Israeli weapons, thousands of Jews killed by Palestinian weapons, but the fact remains that millions more Palestinians were murdered by weapons in the hands of their fellow Arabs, Jordanians in particular. These are facts that are too ofen overlooked by the present Palestinian leadership, but they are still facts.
