Libs ok to have secrets, Conservatives no way

So sayeth the Democrats grilling Roberts

Wanted to take a few minutes and refer to some news that the Washington Times is carrying regarding the Roberts nomination/confirmation process.

One of their articles today mentions that -- as expected -- Democrats and liberals are disappointed that they didn't get more information from him, hmmm, lets see exactly what the article said: Democrats laid the groundwork yesterday to oppose the Supreme Court nomination of Judge John G. Roberts Jr., accusing him of withholding his personal views on political and judicial matters.

That great clip is what proves my point for me -- it's ok for Liberals to have personal views on virtually any matter, without worry about being forced to share those views and potentially disqualify someone from being able to serve in any official capacity later on in life, but in the liberal world, it's dead wrong that a conservative would ever have such a secret. They can't be trusted at all, as their opinion might be completely counter to those of the liberals and that just wouldn't be fair and proper.

Such is the world we live in. Conservatives can't have secrets, especially not personal views on issues that are not discussed openly. But liberals can. At least when dealing with the likes of Teddy Kennedy, Charles Schumer, Joseph Biden, Patrick Leahy and their comrades.

What complete bunk.

Perhaps while the Democrat Senators were pressing Judge Roberts they may have wished to ask him his opinion on the latest Newdow theatrics? It's not like that case won't be coming before the Supremes again in the future (since they punted it completely last time it was before them, instead of actually deciding that case on it's merits).

At least they got some progress from Roberts in the area of Emminent Domain, mostly being told that they can fix the problem that their liberal friends on the Court created.

What a crazy world we live in. I may just have to become a liberal just so I can keep my own views a secret. Nah, I'd rather discuss the issues here and let the chips fall where they may.

I wonder, if the pedophile lover Justice Ruth Buzzie Ginsberg had have been forced to reveal her views on parental rights and age of consent, would she be infesting the bench with her butt today?

The Democrats had ample opportunity to ask legitimate "what did you mean by", or "can you clarify what you wrote here" questions in order to properly assess soon to be Chief Justice Robert. Instead they chose to misquote and misrepresent his history and few past writings, which he was able to disregard easily by pointing out the flaws (without so much as checking notes or consulting staff).

Well their chance is past. Why? Because they had little interest in making the hearings anything more than a dog and pony show in the first place. They wanted to make their statements and be on record, and Roberts might as well not even have been there. There minds were made up already (many of them even before Roberts was named).

Judge Roberts will most likely be confirmed, and those who oppose him did more to ensure that than anyone else ever could have.
