Want to get out of poverty, take personal responsibility

Reading another useless rant by the col about how much they "care" about poverty brought a few things to mind. Poverty in this country is not the governments fault, quite different than what the left wants you to think. Poverty is mostly a personal choice in this country. Aside from people who are physically or mentally unable to work choose to live in poverty and not better themselves. This is one of the big difference between the left and right. The left wants you to rely on the government and not help yourself, the right believes people should take personal responsibility for themselves, and not rely on the government.

Now I hear people like the col and our other resident radicals that state things like people could not evacuate because they are poor and had no transportation. I bet if a "50 Cent" concert was in town, people could find a ride for that. However this is basically what we are talking about. Instead of taking responsibility for yourself and finding a way out, they blame the government (mostly Bush) for not driving right up to their doorsteps and taking them away.

If you want to get out of poverty and live a good life, then just do it. Here are a few tips to get you started.

Instead of buying that new rap cd that came out, buy a book instead.

Instead of going to "the club" every night, stay home and read to your kids.

Instead of spending countless amounts of money on hair products, buy food and clothes for yourself and children.

Instead of relying on government for a paycheck, go get a job.

If you follow these basic tips you will have already gotten started on the right path.

Hey clown.....live anywhere near Pittsburgh,PA?

No, I'm in Atlanta, but my dad's family is in McKeesport.

I have to say that now you remind me of that famous Charlie Daniel's line: "You just go and lay your hand on a Pittsburgh Steeler fan
And I think you're gonna finally understand."

My favorite line ever from a song. I never had the pleasure to live there (army brat). I did get to visit my grandparents and MANY other family that live there (they're Italian so I'm sure you can imagine).

I never got to see the steelers, but I did have the pleasure of seeing the Pirates a couple of times, long time ago, Dave Parker was still playing then!! I also remember Kennywood Park, great park, the Beast is awesome.

I'm unfortunately down here in Atlanta surrounded by Falcons fans. Tell ya what, can we make a truce? I'd love to have a fellow Steers fan to correspond with (3-0 and NE is going down this weekend!!).

I have made my apologies to Tex on another thread, I did let my emotions get away from me there. I just feel real strongly about the responsibility for your children thing and with images coming from New Orleans showing all those poor children stuck in that city becasue the people responsible for their welfare use the excuse of being poor for not being able to get a few miles inland for the sake of their children, well my blood has just been boiling lately thinking of that.

As for LW, I've never seen the word "twat" in print before reading one of her articles, I've heard it said a couple times but never from a lady. I have certainly never had a lady refer to my ass being kicked so many times over a two day period either. As a man raised in the South we simply don't consider that sort of talk to be lady like and while my mom did raise a gentleman, as I have said, she also taught me how to recognize a lady. However, I have made a resolution to never cross LW again for the sake of my sanity.

If I refrain from arguing with LW and Tex can I consider myself having found a fellow Steelers fan? I'd much rather share a few Iron Cities over a Steelers game with you next time I'm in McKeesport rather than being tortured (of course, last year's AFC championship game was about the most torture I can stand for a lifetime).

Glad I could expand your horizons. I've picked up quite a few colorful words from my British Hubby, like twat, twit, sot, pillock, tart, slapper, slattern, hussy, bint, slag, gobshite, toe-rag, eejit, chav, peasant, proletarian, pleb, poofter, swish, nancy-boys, and the much loved BOLLOCKS!!

No, no LW, you have by no means expanded my horizons, unless of course seeing a Lady write the word "twat" is expanding my horizons. I have heard the word, which much like "cunt", is simply a vulgar term for a vagina or a disdainful word for a woman. Again, my shock was seeing the word come out of a "ladies" mouth not in learning a new slur.

I think not, and you nitpicking about my colorful language is such a sissified display of anal retentiveness and obession with the insignificant, it makes me wonder if you are a man at all, "gentleman" aside.

Sorry, for the delay between replies, my son walked up as I was responding, which brings up a great point and the last point that I will make with you whip, as I made a resolution to refrain from discussions with a lady that possesses your "colorful" language and your obvious obsession with the talk of physical threats, real or insinuated. My son walked into the room which caused me to change screens. Now while I would have no shame in having my son see my opinion as regards the subject at hand, I will not allow my son to read your "colorful" language. I also don't want to have to explain to an 11 year old why grown adults are threatening violence against his father when I teach him constantly that violenece is a last resort in the form of self defense.

So LW, as one last point that regards the subject at hand, much more important than having enough money to provide room and board for your child is having enough money to live in an area where the people are such that my children will not run across people like you, your colorful language and your talk of physical violence. You are concerned about my children's sugary donuts on Saturdays? I'd sooner shove donuts down their throats on a daily basis before I let them read one of your "colorful" language rants.

Rant away, I will not be here to read it, I'll be taking my children to Dunkin Donuts where I am sure they will not be subjected to your lovely femininity.

drmiler: I hope that my final comments to LW have not negated my promise made to you. I just wanted LW to know why there will be no more discussions about children living in poverty becasue she somehow steers the subject to my penis size for my children to read.

I do get these wenches mixed up

I'm a 'wench'? Oh, how very 'Blackadder'!

FYI, I'm not up anyones ass.

Oh, and I did NOT insinuate that your children did not love you. I merely said that kids tend to follow their parent's example, and the example you and your wife are setting by working all the time is likely one that they will follow. So, when you are sitting in the nursing home that you have worked so hard to pay for, wondering where you children are ..... they'll be following the example you set and they'll be working.

Money is NOT everything. Material possessions can all go away in the blink of an eye. Love...well, love abides.

The issue of preparing for your childs continuing education.

Why? Your kids too stupid to get scholarships?

My children's quality of life is better than over 95% of the world's population...that's more than adequate for me.
