Katrina spending will cause C.O.L. complaints on deficit

Be ready folks, it's coming....

There'll be a wave of Clueless Old Liberal (C.O.L.) complaints about the "Bush Deficits" in the near future. What had been a shrinking deficit in the last few months, partly thanks to increased revenue collections for the U.S. government will of course all be out the window with the emergency spending on Katrina recovery.

As the estimates keep going higher, we're going to hear and read more and more about how F.O.B.'s (Friends of Bush) are getting rewarded with fat contracts for New Orleans clean up, levee repairs and upgrades, and more rebuilding and recovery efforts. Haliburton and other companies with ties to George W. Bush are going to get some of those contracts, and the howling will not cease.

Of course, if these companies don't bid on the work, and it never gets done, then it's all Bush's fault. If they do bid, and win the bid, then they are getting political favors from Bush.

And either way the money that is spent will add to deficits that will lead to another endless round of Bush bashing.

I'm sure that some of us (BakerStreet, Ted, Dr.Guy, Little Whip, Drmiler and a host of others) know in advance that these screams are coming. Perhaps getting out in front of them now will help soften the blow when it comes. Perhaps not. Either way, be ready for the articles from the C.O.L.'s as they are surely coming....

Well, technically didn't he already do it with the BUSH NEEDS TO INCREASE TAXES thing. Granted, he'll probably do it again. He's poised to use any tragedy, disaster, or arguable success as an anti-Bush diatribe.

Actually Baker, you're probably right on that call, though the "BUSH NEEDS TO RAISE TAXES" keeps cycling around and around.

I'm thinking there's gonna be a long diatribe soon about how with Katrina on top of Iraq that things have just gone way too far. Though again, you're probably right, the earlier rant should cover things but probably will only last until the next quarter's revenue information comes in. At that point, we'll hear doom and gloom about how the deficit that will eat us all alive and consume us completely (or at least cause us to need to raise taxes on the wealthy, eliminate the original Bush tax cuts completely, etc.)

No, I think the Iraq war causes agita, not Katrina. But, given one of the comments on another thread, apparently the 9 repubs who voted against the Katrina aid package did so because they were worried about what it would cost future generations and do to our economy. To which I replied, they didn't give a rat's ass about that when we were hauled into that dubious war based on questionable intel and outright lies.

Now, to come in here insulting the COL is ourtight dispicable. Shameful, even. What a hopeless bunch of .............

In the past, we have provided the added resources for things like WWII and Vietnam by increasing Federal taxes. Even Reagan and Bush 41 increased taxes when that was required. Lets see if Bush 43 and his conservatives in Congress have the balls to do the same!.

Sounds exactly like what the C.O.L. had espoused.... worry about the costs, worry about thecosts, worry about the costs

and, also

why haven't we had the feds take over? why didn't Bush do it all by himself, blah blah blah

I think Bush should raise taxes on all col with the first name gene. Then any pensions of all col with the first name gene should be cut. That way he gets exactly what he wants.

I think the problem is... we answer these people. We reply... i.e. we give a damn. I am making a vow to not only not answer the col, I'm not even going to read his posts.

Why? Because they are form letters. It doesn't matter what the issue is, he has an angle on how it is damaging to Bush. Why? Because he works backwards from the assumption that everything is Bush's fault. Just like Bahu. They only have one song, and one song gets old.

If I chose to work that way, I could blame dabe for the poor response to Katrina. It's mindless, and dishonest, and frankly I don't want to take part anymore.

I've tried half-heartedly in the past, but this time I mean it. I see no reason to click on the Col's articles, and frankly I don't see why anyone else would get any more out of them than I do. The only thing that keeps him going is the conflict, and I don't think his knee-jerk ideas deserve any. Let them quietly slip down the list and let his blog rot on the vine.

The same goes for dabe and myrrander, imho. One trick ponies. If their lives are so empty that they can only express themselves in such a mindless fashion, then we don't do them a service by rewarding them with attention.

That should fit your small mind BakerStreet.

Col, people don't need to believe me. They can go to your blog and read your form posts with the newsitem of the day pasted in. You don't care about truth or fairness, you just find a problem, and work backwards from the idea that it is Bush's fault, stretching where the facts need to be stretched.

You don't deserve the attention you get, and frankly most people who read your blog don't even read our retort anyway. That's why I think we do ourselves a disservice by popping you back to the top of the list over and over. All we are doing is helping you spread a false, ignorant, and often deranged message, and your mind is simply not going to be changed.

So, no, what's the point in debating with you? Yours is the one-track-mind. Whoever wants to compare my blog to yours, knock yourself out. You have one song, I have many. You have no urge to blog, you just want a free editorial page to post the same idea over and over and over.

That's your right, donated to you by Brad and Stardock. I don't have to validate the practice, though. I have said over and over that your message would be more acceptable if you posed yourself as a real person, and not a two dimensional character. You insist on singing your one little jingle over and over, though, so be a marginalized joke with the rest of them.

Colon Gene's articles read like a Madlib, exept when it comes to to fill in the blanks, only one word choice is provided.

Colon Gene, tell me, since Congress is collecting more revenue now than before the tax cuts, how is it that the tax cuts reduced revenue???

So, if you guys hate the Col so much, why do you even bother responding to his posts. Oh yeah, you just come in to insult, as whip so blatantly admitted. Right. Nice. Mindless righties. Gene, just blacklist the bunch of em and be done with it.

Gene / Myrr / Dabe threads if they get their way and do as Dabe suggests:

Gene posts article blaming latest woes on Bush.

Dabe posts reply: screw Bush, he sucks

Myrr might add: yeah, mindless idiot

Thread dies quickly or those three continue to pat each other on back as latest most intelligent individual who has figured it all out and knows that it's all a conspiracy to hide Dick, pay off Haliburton and screw over the country.

Dabe posts new thread.

C.O.L. doesn't find it because it's not posted in political area. The C.O.L. bot software only works in that forum, no where else.

Myrr ignores thread because it doesn't exist.

Myrr posts thread.

Dabe piles on the hatred, more screw Bush and all those rednecks that voted for him.

Again, C.O.L. doesn't find the thread because it's not posted in political area.

Get the pattern?

The Col doesn't blacklist because if he did his posts would sink to invisibility in about an hour. What lends him credibility is the opposition, and why we do it, I don't know. I'm not going to any more.

Dabe, why do we make fun of Colon Gene? For the same reason I eat an apple, because it's there, ripe for the picking.

I'm reading "A Seperate Piece" at the moment, and i'm struck with the comparison Col makes to Gene in the book. Gene thinks his best friend Finny is trying to ruin his (Gene's) grades so that Finny can still be better at something then Gene, Gene gets mad, and pushes Finny out of a tree, breaking Finny's leg, and Finny really wasn't doing anything exept wonder why the f*** his best friend pushed him out of a tree.

Just my two cents.

Dabe....why don't you just shut up. No ones buying what you're selling. And btw, this is not the col's thread. So blacklisting anyone will have no effect here.

At least she's been better about the language (for the most part) lately. (And I do appreciate the effort if she has been trying)

I love it. drmiler telling me to shut up. You're a joke.

This is great. Someone who does nothing but bash and insult someone who might remotely support Bush is ok, but doing something to someone to hates Bush is "wrong". The hypocrisy is astonishing.
