Quotes on Katrina

"What the American people have seen is this incredible disparity in which those people who had cars and money got out and those people who were impoverished died."--Ted Kennedy

"      "--Mary Jo Kopechne

Guess history repeats itself.

Yet another completely and totally specious and disingenuous comparison.

Not so. If Mary Jo Kopechne had driven herself that night, she would probably be alive to comment on Katrina...

You want to use every excuse to remind people of Bush's perceived "crimes", so deal with it when the shoe is on the other foot.

Brownie, you're doing a heck of a job.
-- Dubya's comment to FEMA Director Michael Brown, who presided over what was arguably the worst ever performance by FEMA in an emergency situation, Mobile, Alabama, Sep. 2, 2005

I don't think anyone anticipated the breach of the levees.
-- Dubya's expert opinion on New Orleans doesn't jibe with reality, or FEMA assessments, or media accounts, or common sense, Good Morning America, Sep. 1, 2005

The good news is -- and it's hard for some to see it now -- that out of this chaos is going to come a fantastic Gulf Coast, like it was before. Out of the rubbles of Trent Lott's house -- he's lost his entire house -- there's going to be a fantastic house. And I'm looking forward to sitting on the porch.

How?  Seems to me, that rat left the sinking ship over 30 years ago.  Pot, Meet Kettle.

Except in Kennedy's case, it is not perceived.

Why?  This is about Kennedy's quote, not Bush's.  You can blog on Bush any time you want.

First of all, they are not "perceived". If you refuse to see them, shame on you.

Secondly, why wait till it doesn't matter anymore? That's ridiculous.

And finally, guy opened the debate about relevant quotes. I felt comparing a Kennedy quote of that incident is specious. And, it is. The comparison has absolutely nothing to do with Katrina. It's disingenuous.

But, your title says "Quotes on Katrina". It didn't say "Kennedy Quotes on Katrina. I thought you were inviting additional quotes, particularly because you used the plural "quotes", and you only listed one. So, I added a few more.

It already doesn't in case you haven't figured that out yet.

It matters now, whether you admit it or not.

They are "perceived" because you can never provide proof.

And just "how" do you figure that? Most especially if you can not provide proof of these "percieved" wrongs. What do you think you're going to impeach him or put him on trial for something? Good Luck. That's been tried and it failed. So following that statement it does not matter now.

You wouldn't know proof if it hit you upside da head.

Oops!! It did hit you upside da head.

You didn't recognize it.

Ya see. I was right.

Neither did anyone else. I notice that you did not address the last part of my reply. What's the matter don't have an answer?

You want a response. You already know it. But, I'll repeat it, anyway. You are aware that unless congress flips to the dems, impeachment is impossible. However, what I'd prefer is for the lying bastards running this country to be brought up on criminal charges. they lied, cheated, and stole, and suckers like you are buying it all hook, line, and sinker. Just because you don't believe it, doesn't negate the reality. War crimes, I think, would be a good place to start.

I read somewhere on the internet, I'd love to find the link, that Europeans are now calling bush, the Apocolypse President. He builds, or is responsible for apocolyptic events wherever he goes.

There is nothing to impeach for. No war crimes were committed. Like I said, these are factless allegations that you can never prove with real evidence. And what I mean by "real" evidence is not a quote from Michael Moore.

What the love affair leftists have with europeans. Nobody cares what the euros think. I have been reading about the europeans lately, they believe the stupid nonsense that Bush caused Katrina because of global warming. Go ahead and side with those people all you want. Can you say "republican sweep"?

And like I stated that was tried and FAILED! Like ID.....who "really" cares what the euro weenies think?

I care what the europeans think because we all live on one planet. the information age has made us global. I refuse to live in this nationalistic bubble created by rightwing ideologues who just dismiss europe as "them". We are all them, we all came from there, and we all live on this planet.

Nationalism and patriotic furvor and jingo attitudes like your will be this country's undoing. We cannot live alone, separated from the rest of the world, based on some sense of self-righteous and sanctimonious sense of a holier than though isolation from the rest of the world.

Jingo idiots...................

Exactly! And that is why the US should intervene in other countries. Like I always said.

And while we are at it, a "crime" is not defined as an act that some Democrats disagree with.

As for war crimes, I suggest you read a history book. Attacking another country is not a war crime. That was never the problem. War crimes are a LOT worse than that.

Alternatively, use this definition, like so many lefties seem to do:

"war crime"
noun
The act of deposing a murderous dictator. The more lives are saved by this act, the worse is the crime.

If President Bush is making europeans more crazy and mad, then he's doing the right things. We don't need to follow the socialist and appeasement tactics they use.
