if u want a comp with a lot of power for less making your own compuer is the way to go however you usually wont get as much bundeled software with this route and unless you pirate the software costs might end up going up

right now im satisfied with my refurbished dell computer that was a good cost effective route and it got me alot of things just remeber that refurbished dell dont come with monitors (unless u choose to buy a refurbished monitor with the refurbished computer) and they usually dont come with speakers so if you dont have either of these or if you are looking to upgrade your monitor or speaker you might as well buy a new one

a promblem with buying from dell however is that they r hard to upgrade unless you use dell products which is most of the time alot more expensive than the generic items

also if your going to buy a computer from dell wait till theres a good deal and before you buy it look at this site for coupons http://www.allonlinecoupons.com/st/dell/

if you have the expertise to make your own computer and get the software cheap id definently do that but if your like me and dont know too much besides basic hardware a new or refurbished dell aint a bad route to go just make sure that you have done alot of price/quality comparisons before you buy your computer

well this is my opinion and im sure that there are people in this forum that know more about this than i do but it worked for me

also one last note before you buy any computer try to get someone you know who knows alot about computer to check over your inteded purchase just to make sure that your gettin your moneys worth

I preffer to assemble comp. by myself.

I built my first PC last summer to prepare for Doom 3. If you have the time to research what parts work best together, assembly is simple. (I only needed to use a screwdriver.) I reckon I saved a few hundred dollars compared to buying one already assembled.

If you're not looking to go the Build It Yourself route, I highly recommend Link. They're very cost effective and you can get sweet as hell rig from them. Three of my friends have systems from them, and they absolutely love them.
