OT: Dregin.net and the in the works political game

Brad, or anyone who knows......two questions and a statement.

Question 1: Are we going to be able to download and play the beta later this summer if we are dregin.net subscribers?

Question 2: Is it multi-player?

Statement: If the answer to both are yes, I'll upgrade to dregin.net immediately!

Hello Rasta Kyle,

As far as I know, for your question #1, I think it's a yes. When I upgraded to drengin net, I remember reading that it gave me acces to all their games, including the ones to come, for the duration of my subscription.
For the second question, I have no idea. Maybe you can find some info about it at www.drengin.net

Didn't see it there........I know drengin.net will give access to thier games, I'm just wondering if they will be making available public beta's for the new game. Provided it's multi-player, I'd sign up for drengin.net right away if this was the case.

Brad? Anyone in the know?

Well Rasta, that's good news. Enjoy the beta, it's very good.
By the way you may need to download another file for the beta to work. There is a link in the homepage.

Oops wrong game. Political is probably multiplayer like Corporate Machine

The Political Machine isn't going to be multplayer right away (i.e. 1.0). That's not because we dont' want multiplayer but for obvious reasons, the game has to come out by the end of this year (i.e. election 2004 is right around the corner) and multiplayer would add too much time.

That said, we plan to do a lot of updates to it over the coming months and years (years plural) and multiplayer is very very high on the priority list on it.

I wish sales@stardock would have mentioned that. I have no interest in playing that type of game single player...sort of like Corporate Machine, I've never played it single player, but it's pretty fun to play against a friend. I sure hope MP gets put in before my subscription runs out since that's kind of why I bought it....to play against a friend of mine who comes over for lan games every couple of weeks.

For the record, here's the email.....

Do we need to have an active Drengin.net subscription to get updates of games that we got as part of Drengin.net?

I just subscribed to Drengin.net and will get Political Machine. Will I get the updates if I don't renenw the 1-yr subscription?

I think you get the updates for a year then have to resubscribe to get more.

From what I've read you may even have to renew it to get patches to Galactic Civilizations after a year. As I keep seeing people refer to just getting a year of free upgrades.

Um, how many free expansion packs has Blizzard given out? Or Microsoft? Or Bethesda? I think you'll find those on store shelves with $30 price tags.

If stardock continues to update galciv at about the current rate, then I think it's worth a $30 investment for all of the small and not-so-small improvments they make over the course of a year.
