Favorite world leader of all time

I'll tell you mine if you tell me yours

I was wondering which world leaders rank high on the favorites list, so here's a little poll. Just name your favorite world leader(s) and the country they are from.

Mine are Gandhi (India) and Salvador Allende (Chile)

But which Ghandi - Indira or Rajiv?

Am I right in thinking that Mahatma Ghandi (influential as he undoubtedly was) was never an 'official' leader (by inheritance, election, whatever)? In this case, I guess if you allow him you should also allow John Lennon, Bob Geldof or - God help us all - Bono.

well, I usually make an exception for Gandhi, as he was pretty much the leader of the independence movement in India and an important leader (although not a President or anything) to a lot of Indians, plus I can't think of any other world leaders remotely like him.

I also like Hugo Chavez (current President of Venezuela), but I don't really want to judge him as best world leader until he is no longer a world leader.

Bill Clinton (whistles and waits for one of the Dr.'s to chime in)

lots of good suggestions, I figured someone would say Bush, but didn't expect Clinton. But don't worry, I mentioned Allende and Chavez, so Bakerstreet should be here shortly.
