Government to stop the "Blog Phenomenon" in Iran

I just read from the Yahoo! News Service that there are plans from the Iranian government to censor the internet due to the *blog* phenomenon. In a conformist society where religious dictatorship is time-honored and freedom of expression is curtailed, it is no longer a question why such plans are in the works. The Internet is almost next to the ideal laissez-faire state where freewheeling exchange of ideas is as good as any form of spontaneous intellectual exercise.
Whenever I hear of these state-sponsored maneuvers outside the Philippines, I somehow feel fortunate that I get to freely express my *nationalistic* sentiments over the surfacing social and political issues. Even if I often feel sorry that the democratic institutions of this country have been corrupted by those self-seeking political opportunists, I still have faith in the advocacy of true and untainted democracy among the young people.
For the time being, I have no great influence to my countrymen. But I won't let disillusionment take over my hopes for the country.
As for the people in Iran who are struggling to voice out their stand on socio-political issues, you definitely have my support! Wow, I feel so empowered just by writing this blog...=)
