should Microsoft be using our skins for future generations?

it seems to me that the more we make nice, cool, and hot looking skins, the more trouble Microsoft has of making new skins for the future Windows (not Vista). We all make skins not even Microsoft would even think of! So should Wincustomize allow Windows to take one of our skins to make their future windows? (NOT VISTA).

to me i think why not. cause its like as if we're taking their ideas. for example: remember the longhorn 5203 skin? Microsoft already had it so they took it away. but that's a different story here. but what if KoL_ had made that skin right after microsoft had already thought about making that same skin, Microsoft can't just say that the skin has to be removed, cause they didn't even make it yet! so why couldn't they ask KoL_ if they can use that skin? also why not have KoL_ sell it to them? they have TONS OF MONEY!!!

so what do you guys (and girls) think about Microsoft using our skins for future generations?

Yeah why not! There are some real great authors on here such as the likes of PixelPirate and Mormegil that could knock up a belting skin for a new windows. But I think a better visual improvement would be MORE visual styles shipping with windows. In XP there's 2, Luna and Classic. Microsoft, the biggest software company out there should know that people do actually have computers *in their homes* where we have custom computers, decor on the walls etc.

Maybe running the thread through a translation engine might help.....Spell checker

Maybe fixing the numbering on this thread to start at #1 might help.

possible ghost post (#1) - posted elsewhere, not shown here - try looking in joeuser

should they be using the skins here? no, defeats the purpose.
But they should be shipping with a full version of WB!

I think with "tons of money" Microsoft has the ability to hire people vastly more trained and talented than most of us. The fact that they don't isn't shortsighted. "Look and Feel" is standardized in business. People over-estimate the share of of Microsoft's sales that go to casual users, as compared to the innumerable numbers of licenses they sell to businesses.

Sure, you can brand the form as long as you don't harm the function, but really what does that do for your bottom line. You don't want to have to train people in the use of the bells and whistles of "functional" skins, and the "pretty" doesn't mean much.

Most skins aren't "professional", neither in quality or in aesthetics. There are probably a couple dozen skins that would pass for a professional UI around here, but again, if MS wanted something of the sort, they don't need to come to us.

When they do, it is because they don't deem it important enough to toss up a few new cubicals for.

No matter how "cool" or "pretty" Microsoft OS GUIs get to be, I still want to skin my desktop as I want, besides they are more interested in building an efficient OS than what kind of skins will amaze the public.

Can somebody translate the second paragraph in the original post for me? Something about kol making the skin before Microsoft but the skin is a port of a Microsoft GUI? I'm not sure I understand kids' grammar these days. If I had written that while in grade school back in the 60's, I guarantee I would have failed that portion of the exam.

You noticed....

I haven't commented because....to understand the answer first you must understand the question....42, etc....

I know that you believe that you understand what you think you said. However, I am not sure you realize that what you said is not really what you meant..

It seems to me to stand to reason that only after careful thought and consideration could proper substantiation be furnished upon the aforementioned cogitation. Besides, when one abstracts the superficiality of the situational conundrum which is presently under considerable scrutiny, it becomes increasingly apparent that the only validated inclination is the original precedent for which this particular vernacular dissection was instigated. Or at least that is what I was told by the blue grouse of the castle...

I must beg to differ with with my esteemed colleague, BakerStreet who said: "Microsoft has the ability to hire people vastly more trained and talented than most of us."

When it comes to GUI, there are NO people more talented than those who frequent WinCustomize.

WinCustomize is the home of the best of the best.

Now, we can carry on with the silliness.

I presume your presumption is precisely incorrect and that your diabolical mind is insufficiently cultivated to comprehend my meaning.

^^ not near as good as Sembetu's dialog but it's the best I can do on such short notice. plus, i'm tired
