For JU users:> Firefox or IE6?

I've been using INTERNET EXPLORER every time I was on JU and today, for the sheer heck of it

I decided to log onto JU using my default and favourite browser FIREFOX - and I couldn't believe

the speed of JU. 

 

Is there something in Internet Explorer that slows JU down. ?

 I use Broadand (speed (400.0Mbps)

In many ways it's a personal preference thing, but I have noticed firefox being faster then internet explorer. Biased observer or actual speed difference? Who knows, but I know what I like.

I might be because IE waits to display tables until everything in the table has been loaded, while Firefox renders as it goes.

I have used Mozilla for the past two years. The main reason being it is fasting then IE. At present I am using Mozilla .17.10, and when on Wincustomize things just seem to download quite a bit faster.

As a point of interest, IE7 is going to be XP and later only. Expect Firefox use to increase.

The Firefox Gecko engine is exceedingly faster than Internet Explorer. I noticed the same thing after converting to Firefox from IE and went in search of tweaks to determine why. Finally dawned on me IE was just a slower browser and more prone to security flaws.

Firefox use is gaining on IE as IE grew slowly on then dominant Netscape. More businesses and individuals are seeing the growing advantages of Firefox's simplified use, popup/cookie managability and overall safety. Bill Gates should have listened instead of denying the viability of this browser. Then again, he does use Apache servers as backup, but was quick to deny when this fact was revealed.

My bet... When IE7 arrives you will see the decline of FF.
Hardcore Netscapers were blind to the truth as well.

As a point of interest, IE7 is going to be XP and later only. Expect Firefox use to increase.


Don't take this wrong, but if you are not using XP by now you are simply a minority that I'm afraid will not get much sympathy.

I almost never fire up IE so I don't even know how fast or slow it is, I just know I like Firefox very very much.

And I agree with Phoon, if you aren't on XP (or Win2K) yet, then you are in the minority.

I used to have problems with IE, since I've gotten Firefox, I haven't had a problem yet..and yeah, I do notice the difference in speed. It's so great

IE7 may very well turn the tables on Firefox. But right now, Firefox is the way to go.

[I.E. based, but far speedier browser ..it's the old 'myIE2']

...been using it for quite a while now, and I'm still impressed with the functionality of this browser.
