IconPackager Problem

OK, I have this little problem with IP. When I load a pack everythings fine, but when I restart or turn off my computer the icons are changed. Some icons like .jpg, .bmp, .html, etc. all end up as the windows generic icon with a stretched picture in the middle (sorry, I don't know how else to explain this). Also when repairing the icons, the defaults would change into icons from random packs.

I repair all the icons back to the original XP set, but the changed ones don't go back, so what I end up doing is going into Windows folder options, and one-by-one fixing them all. I load the IconPackager pack again, and they're fine... until the next time.

There seems to be nothing wrong with the pack, because when I re-apply the pack, the icons that were changed, are back to the ones assigned by the theme. Plus this has happnened with many themes, and I think its just my bad luck with this program.

I'm using XP with SP2, and IP 3.

Same here...

My Objectdock icons also messes up, and my Wallpaper goes gray with that little [X] at the top left of my screen...

Then I have to reapply everything...

Which version of IP 3?

CAn stardock give us an indication when the isues ith IP will be resolved . Here's what happened to me :
* quite a number of applications refused to run after having installed IP 3 , included were :
- Snagit
- Directory Opus
- nearly all applications which happen to register tray-icons , but also toolbars ( Encarta- toolbar, True Launchbar etc. ) failed to initialize .
* The actual WMI seemed to be failing ( so I couldn'dt open the logviewere for errors , in fact I couldn't open any snapin )
* windows scheduler failed to operate .

Mind you : this isn't meant as any criticism , I work in computers ( repairs and installations ) and have found SP 2 to be quite a nuisance to get " it " to work with all applications .

Seemed Microsoft changed something in the COM - service catalog when introducing SP 2 and this was wreaking havoc in lots of applications - now , apparently - also in IP

If all the stuff described in the various threads is in fact caused by the iprepair.dll , wouldn't altering that file or removing it , solve most of the issues ??

IS there a way to revert back to a previous version of IP ( prior to IP 3.0.x ) ?

think most of the complaints disregard the fact these releases are betas , but it's not very encouraging for any final release - even hen still in beta and the matter needs to be resolved before releasing any final version .

I'm an avid fan of OD and can tell you that both iwndowblinds and IP have nbeen long time favorites of me . But - after having had to re-install windows xp - with the faulty COM-service it was impossible to run Windows XP in a proper way - I haven't yet re-installed IP for fear of going through the same thing again .

And I miss it

Any news on this would be greatly appreciated .

turning it off worked for me. the newest one i have 3.00b.093 seems to be working...
do you have StarDock Central? If so, do you have archive turned on? if so, then you can restore an archived earlier version.

Obviously they( the Stardock guys ) figured out what was causing all these issues , downloaded and installed new IP-installation - first completely deleted the iprepair.dll - and all seems well.

Good going , guys

Iconpackager 3.00d b002 has the iprepair.dll in it again and re-introduced the problems I recently had .

I uninstalled IP for now , but sure wish these problems with the dll will be fixed soon ( windowblinds is working just fine with all other applications though so it's not a Object - desktop issue as such - I think it's just with IP )
