novice skinner, learning stuff. Please help

Transparency

I've been experimenting with Cursor XP and I have all these great ideas about cursors to make, but most of them involve variations of transparency or areas where the cursors need to be completely see-through. Is there some sort of shade of a color or something I can use to create transparent areas? I have Adobe Photoshop 4 and it only saves transparent images in *.psd or *.pdd formats, which dont work with cursor xp's interface.

Try using 'Magic Pink' for the areas you want to be transparent - 255,0,255

Magic pink will not work on .png needed for cursors, in Photoshop, file, save as, should let you save as .png.

ok...so.. "Magic Pink" doesn't work on .png's but Photoshop should let me save transparent/layered pics? I doubt the second part of that, having seen proof against it for Photoshop 4 repeatedly...but maybe I'll just try a different kind of picture file.

If PS4 won't save as .png but does save the transparency & you don't have another program - you might try irfanview it's free and opens and saves multi formats - i just can't check at the moment since i'm not allowed to have it at work.

ok so I can make the pics in PS4 and open and convert them in irfanview?
