What I think bothers me the most is we are playing a blaming game here. One side points at the other and says, you caused this, or you are not doing this or that right. The other side points back and says, no we are doing this and this and this. Then the pointing goes on and on.
What about the base concept here. There is a group (how large is open to debate, it depends on your sources and who you trust) that wants to kill non-Muslims/Westerners. The U.S. is not the only target, so we need to start looking at this as a global problem if you have not already. This group is spread out in every country, including the US and they are trying to do harm to you, me, your children and mine and your friends and neighbors. They are trying to harm our way of life and what we have come to enjoy as our freedoms and pastimes. They are doing it by trying to scare you into fighting each other and it seems to be working. While we bicker with each other they plan the next attack that will make us fight them, and each other even more. Is anyone to blame for the attacks of 9/11? Sure, the terrorist that attacked us. Did we deserve it? Does anyone deserve to be attacked and killed because you are at work in a building that happens to be in a large city in the US? Did the US as a whole deserve it? In my opinion of course not. If you don't like something someone is doing the first thing you do is try to talk it out. Then you try to go through the legal way of changing what you perceive as a wrong. And if you win great, if not, you suck it up and drive on. You don't put a bomb under their car and kill them over it. But that all changes when that someone places a bomb under your car and blows up your family. That turns the game into one of life and death. And because these people are not subject to our law but they are subject to our power as a nation, both economically and militarily.
What do you think we should do? Sit back and let them attack us? Should we not retaliate? Should we bomb them into the afterlife? What do you think is appropriate response to these acts we have had perpetrated on us? My opinion again is to project our military to kill/stop the threat. That way it ceases to be a threat. I also think we should do a better job of securing our country. I lock my doors at night to keep bad people out, but should one break in, I will kill them. Pretty simple. I am protecting my family and my home. The same way our military is protecting our country.
If we are attacked with nuclear weapons by the terrorist, I would respond in kind. What I would bomb? I don't know that right now, I have to think on it. I would bomb those things important to them. I might start with a known gathering place of the terrorist and their loved ones and work my way to their important places. We dropped bombs on Japan, on civilian centers, to stop WW2. And it worked. Maybe, just maybe that would be the outcome here. Bomb us with Nukes, and we will kill your brethren and fellow terrorist, make it cost more than they are willing to pay. Are we willing to kill them just as they are willing to kill us? I am. I don't know but the time is coming when these questions may have to be answered, and when it happens, God help all of us.
