Is the beta playable on a 32MB graphics grab, 256 RAM, 1.7 CPU?

Yes, I plan on upgrading in the near future, worried about the present before I consider pre-ordering,.

It should be ok, I have a slower computer and the game works very well.

I had to update my video drivers though.

Well, you need to be able to have the latest version of DX9 for playing the beta.

As long as your drivers support DirectX 9.0c, those specs should be fine.  Depending on what kind of video card you have, you might be able to get newer ones here if the manufacturer no longer releases drivers for it:
