logon skins

I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong, but i cannot figure out how to use any of the logon skins I downloaded. I put them all into the same folder, and open logon studio, and then I tried importing one, after entering a name, picking the file, and hitting ok, it just sits there, it doesnt do anything, so after a while of waiting, I hit "cancel" and "refresh list" and the name of the skin i just tried to import appears, but it doesnt have a preview and when I try to appy it, it just freezes the program. I also tryed hitting "load", but after i pick the file and hit open, no new skins apear in the list even after clicking "refresh list"

Sorry if this has been asked before, or if there is a help article somewhere about it, but i cant seem to find one, so if it has, please point me to one of these other posts/articles. Thanks

Rename the .zip file to .logonxp, then just double click it.

Its not just one, all of the ones I've downloaded wont work, but here is the one that I'm most interested in getting to work

Aha, well in that particular case, the .logonxp file is inside the .zip. Just unzip it, and double click the .logonxp file.

I tried that too, just like all of the other .logonxp files, when i double click on it, it opens the studio, but doesnt add it to the list. I've had wierd problems with other programs like this where nobody else has had the problems, this is probably one of them. Thanks for trying to help.

That is bizzare indeed. It sounds like your copy of LogonStudio is haunted.

You can try re-installing logonxp

You may also rename the .logonxp file to .zip and unzip it. Once you get the bmp files inside, copy them to a folder created inside X:\Program Files\WinCustomize\LogonStudio\Your Folder and try finding the skin named "Your Folder" from inside the prog. If you get it try applying it.

Have you ever gotten a logon to work? From your comments it doesn't sound like you have. Definately uninstall and reinstall Logon Studio. I don't think the problems are in the logons. Also, what OS are you using? I believe you have to be running XP to use Logon Studio. Good luck.

Nope, this is the first time I've tried it, I do have XP, but i havent tried un installing and reinstaling it, but I will go try that now, thanks for the advice

I have the same problem, have uninstalled and reinstalled, rebooted, and it still won't work. I've downloaded the file from Stardock, just in case I have a corrupted file, no luck.... I have been using this program for 2 years, all of a sudden it just quits loading any new logonstudio skins....

I'm down to one logon, one that comes by default...I did manage to get a .zip to work, War of the Worlds...Took a little effort but it works.. I've never had a problem with LS, I had two logons, decided to download some new ones, just will not let me load a new theme....

I really don't understand this....I've had as many as 6-7 logon, always worked before. I've done everything I can think of to get this to start working again, Uninstalled and reinstalled three different times, removed settings with RegCleaner, still cannot get this to work again....

Thanks for your reply Meowy...I don't believe this, I can't get a logonstudio file to load, but I d/ld three Windows Logon XP (logonui) files, coverted them and they work just fine.....!!!Go figure!!!!

I'd kind of like to know what you downloaded here that didn't work...because there have been a lot of them added lately that are pretty messed up file wise among other things. And if any happen to be mine...I'd like to know. Some I have tried lately are zips within zips..no file at all, copy's of folders inside of zips....you name it. Who knows?

Boss019...... I use your skins a lot, get them from WC or Deviant Art. Currently using Underworld 2...I've never had anything from you NOT work, this is a first...!

Well, I just tried all of them....3 are logonxp files...one is a zip that needs to be renamed to logonxp and one is a logonsp file in a zip....but they all work. I haven't heard of anybody still having problems after the uninstall and reinstall, so I don't know what to tell you there. And the logonui files that you convert and yet the logonxp don't work....you got me there. And on the "Too many logons" thing...I don't think that's an issue...at least not for many people.I have well over a hundred, maybe over 200...so I don't think it's a problem. Good luck...I'll be watching here to see if you get it figured out.

Thanks Boss019, I'll keep this post open until I DO find out what's wrong...Meantime, I'll just use logonui themes....
