Speaking of Live8:Kanye West, blacks and the source of AIDS

Giving voice to rumors and accusations

Speaking of Live8 (see previous article here: Live 8: will it make a difference?), during some of the "interview" time during the U.S. television broadcasts, rapper Kanye West chose the time he was on the tube to give public rise to an old rumor, which continues to seem to have roots in the Black (African American / Negro, choose the word...) community in the U.S.A. -- the rumor that AIDS was a man made creation, released into the Black community, or at least released into Africa.

I've heard this rumor before from friends and co-workers. Just one of several conspiracy theories aimed at the destruction of Blacks. I remember old rumors about Church's chicken -- even with the great boxer Sugar Ray Leonard serving as their spokesperson. I don't remember the exact details, but basically a few friends refused to buy anything from Church's because of the rumors.

It disappoints me to see rumors and conspiracy theories like these still remain in the Black community and others as well. Do a simple google search like this: (linked) is aids a man made disease and a host of available sites where you can read the various theories will be returned.

But in these sites, is there really a hint of truth, or simply hate-inspired wishful thinking about what has become the dread disease (along with the old stand-by "cancer") of our time? I am smart enough to admit I don't know the answer, yet I'm also cynical enough and cautious enough to think that if we (humanity) could truly create designer diseases that are destructive as AIDS/HIV has been, that we would have been careful enough not to release them into the wild, and we would not be as cold and heartless as to hold back on any cures we have available, given the complete innocence of those that have been dieing from them.

Mankind simply does not have the technology to produce such a perfect organism as the AIDS virus. It sounds great to those who need to illustrate some new and vast weapon of specific oppression, but other than that, it makes no since whatsoever. Keep looking!

well... I am not sure, but bio-warfare has been going on for years, so why wouldn't they be able to create something?

I'm not saying that AIDS is a creation of some war weapons gone awol, but humans can and have been that intentional throughout the time we have been on this planet (well, recent history at least).

Nothing to be cynical about, its just the truth. From WMD'S to chem/bio-warefare we did it all.



Personally, rumors about who made it and why is useless at this point. Its hear.


If it so happens that it was created by humans, I WOULD FIND IT INTERESTING, but not shocking. Shocking would be using it on a specific race or sexual preference orientated people to whipe them out, not thinking it would whipe everything out.



Anybody ever thought this is natures way of keeping the population down, like with other animals and insects?

Why am I not surprised it was Kanye West who said that? Man, that guy is package of dumb and a bag of crazy chips!

Personally, I don't believe that rumor. I see it as a conspiracy started by someone with an agenda. I remember hearing AIDS was a gay person's disease, too (again, which I don't believe)

If you're gonna do needles and sleep with a lot of people and if your body is not living in deplorable, inhumane conditions where diseases run rampant. A mututated, strong strain of the disease is going to occur in the process. It's science.

If modern science has perfected a mutating viral organism it is the greatest secret of the 21st century. We don’t have a cure for the common cold yet some believe that the “government” has developed AIDS to hurt Gays or Blacks. Bio weapons are primitive compared to HIV.
