Question about Ship Combat

I'm just curious about whether or not the combat system they have now is a temporary system that is being used for beta 2 or if they intend to implement something more complex. Even though is it kind of cool seeing the two ships firing massive amounts of stuff at each other, I personally would prefer something more complex and more strategic. I know that this game is supposed to have more focus on economics and diplomacy and such and less on combat but I still think the game would be far more entertaining if you at least had the option to fight out your battles or have something like the way it is now.

If you mean will there be tactics in the game, the answer is no.  Fleet battles will be a little bit more involved, and the actual battle effects will be more impressive, though.
