I know I'm a day or so late for this issue, unfortunately having been unable to do much blogging over the last day or so, but yet again, it seems that our Supreme Court Justices have been arbiters of nothing, and creators of confusion in the area of Church and State.
10 Commandments in Texas, ok, in Kentucky, no way?? WTF?
When all is said and done, we are left having been told that the issue must be addressed on a case-by-case basis? Say whaaaaaaat?
To a few of the justices here: have you all never heard sh-t or get off the pot?!? Oh wait, I forgot, it comes down to a court that most definitely doesn't want to decide. They don't want to establish a precedent, they want to keep their fellow Judges busy deciding the issues that could have been decided, and should have been decided a long time ago. Hell, if the Supremes actually followed the Constitution (as Scalia has tried to get them to), then the issue was long since decided. Unfortunately though, we have Jurists like Stephens and friends, and nothing gets decided, or it gets decided in a way that requires the biggest possible leaps to be made.
So, now I figure it is time to start a round the country road trip. Load the vehicle up with a few Supreme Court Justices (Sandra Day O'Connor is a good start, perhaps Justice Kennedy also) and go around the country giving "thumbs up" or "thumbs down" to various potential religous symbols around the country. 10 Commandments here ok, there not. Heck, maybe we can just flip coins as we go. Use random number theories and have computers with digitized maps decide for us. Could you imagine the fun when San Francisco keeps a big monument, while Austin loses it? When Boston, Mass gets a big display while Jacksonville, Fla gets smacked down. Now where is that lucky coin??
