Beating A Dead Horse

I know I know, people are already aware of the Supreme Courts decision. But you need to check out this Link.

There is a guy in Weare, NH proposing to use the new Eminent Domain standard to build a hotel...on the land owned by Justice David H. Souter. The proposed name of the hotel? "The Lost Liberty Hotel." And the cafe inside? "Just Desserts Cafe."

As soon as the approval goes through, I'm sending a small building donation and I'm booking a nice long vacation. I hear New Hampshire is a nice place to visit....

Sorry, did not mean to horn in on your topic! I did not read yours before posting mine!

Now, where do we send that donation?

Also, might I suggest a change in your title? How about "Flagellating A Deceased Equine"?

No worries! I'm just glad people are finding out about this proposal. I recommending spamming everyone in your address book with this information. We have 4 other justices who own property that would be far more beneficial to economic development as say used-car lots or Hooters Restaurants.

Philomedy, I like your suggestion...I may consult you before posting from now on

Hey, we can have a JU get together there!

Nice idea! Wouldn't it be great if they really do get to build on his land!

I think it would be a very popular place with a lot of Americans!

I am in favour of eminent domain because I consider land to be the wealth of everyone on earth (or at least within a country)because nobody produced it and thus nobody could, logically, have a better claim to it than anybody else.

But I do believe that eminent domain should serve only the real public interest, aka government projects, (usually streets or railroads), not private interests that somebody in government considers to be public interest for whatever reason.

I thus applaud this very ironic project and hope it succeeds.
