d3d9.dll error when I try to start the game.

When I try and start the game I get this error. "this application has failed to start because d3d9.dll was not found. Re-installing the application may fix this problem" I've tried unistalling and reinstalling a few times with no luck. please help

Sounds like you don't have DirectX 9 installed; and so far as I know, the Beta doesn't install DirectX with itself.

You can download 9.0c at http://www.microsoft.com/windows/directx/default.aspx

Thanks, you were correct....I installed Dx9. Now I can get to the game, and get though set up, but now when I start the game it crashes after trying to load for a few minutes. I have an older dell latitude..(500MHz)........I was hoping I wouldn't have to upgrade to be able to play this game.
