Issues at higher resolutions

This isnt a bug its more of a personal gripe. I've got a 21" monitor and when i crank the game up to anything above 1024x768 it feels like the mouse is "too small" and "too slow" could we get a slider to control how quickly the mouse moves? also the windows with information (like the start up window that explains the story of galciv "Freedom to inivate..." just seems awfull small and looks even more silly at 1600x1280 where its just tiny...

well thats my thoughts anyway i might be wrong.

I don't know if speeding up the mouse is possible without accessing the actual windows "mouse speed" data, but I can see putting a slider in the options window that tweaks the mouse, then reverts to the normal speed when the game closes.

We may be also able to tweak the size of some of the other windows as the resolution changes, but i have a feeling that that without also being able to scale the font (which would be considerably more time consuming) players will always feel that these screens are a bit on the tiny size.

We'll see what we can do though

Well you wouldnt have to scale it... I've no idea if its possible but couldnt you just create three font size for each increase of 320x240? (1024x768 would use font size (whatever it is now looks good) then increase it by 2 to 4 points for each additional 320x240) perhaps thats what you meant in which case ignore me.

Also the bit about the whole mouse speed slider bit sounded great. I tend to run my desktop at 1024x768 but play games at the higher resolution of 1280x1024 and as such my mouse seems fairly slow moving across the screen.

Finally at the higher resolutions take 1600x1280 I hope theres a plan for new artwork for those resolutions. I mean the arts good and all but its just well small... persay start up galciv2 at 1600x1280 and hit the option screen which looks a bit "Strange" as theres NOTHING on the right side of the screen. Also the setup the galaxy screen and create youre race screens should be enlarged just because right now theres a bunch of uh, empty space on the screen.

Once youre in the game... Okay scroll speeds at higher resolution are kind of slow (when you get to the edge of the screen with youre mouse) it just doesnt scroll at a very fast rate. Is there some way to automaticly increase the scrolling speeds with each increase of resolution automaticly? because currently at the higher resolutions you barely move when youre mouse hits the edge of the screen. also maybe im crazy but it LOOKS like the game scrolls faster when youre mouse is on the left and right side of the screen (horizontal) but the upper and lower part it barely seems to move at all (vertical). I could be crazy but I duno.

Oh well thats all ive been able to find thats just seemed a little "funky" to me.

Uh can we get some tooltips for when you mouse over the buttons for "research" "empire" etc etc etc... and what about f1 through f(whatever) being bound to "usefull" screens like empire, trade, research, diplomacy ... or better yet make it so we can bind keys to those screens reviewers love crazy stuff like that. (The ability to bind keys that is)

Well thats enough for now!

the mouse is "too small" and "too slow"

I just checked - Windows XP PRO has controls for pointer size and speed. Try "start"->"settings"->"control panel"->"mouse" and check the settings available under the different tabs therein provided

The next question is: does Windows provide an interface where GC could pick up the settings and use them? (Or does GC already do so?)
