His Ship is Sinking

And the Rats are fleeing........

Dubya's dependence on others' weaknesses are not going to sustain him anymore. His reliance on the Kerry discreditors can no longer float his boat. The election is over. He now has to stand on his own merits and accomplishments. He has to stand on his own record.

Problem is, Dubya's record is abysmal. He's squandered the surplus. He mired the US in a horrific war that was not necessary and was based on lies and selfish interests. His environmental record is appauling, and he hires people to edit out the science that doesn't suit his interests. His support of the middle class is tanked, given that his tax cuts really only benefit the wealthiest of the wealthy. Etcetera, etc. etc. I repeat - Dubya's record is abysmal.

Now, even his republican supporters are abanonding ship, like rats running from the Titanic. Finally, many of them are questioning his record and his motives. And what they are finding isn't a pretty picture. Hense, Dubya has the worst poll numbers since he was elected. He's a lame duck. No one else to take down in order to bolster himself. He's a sinking ship. May all the republican diehards sink with him.

Let's see, the ecomony is doing great, the war in Iraq is only going badly for those who want it to, and yes, his poll numbers are down, but then again he doesn't have to worry about re-election, so polls mean exactly ZeRO!

You can revel in self pity if you want, but the fact is, Prs. Bush stuck his neck out for what he saw was the right thing to do, not the "popular" thing. Go back to High School if you think popularity = leadership.!

That's surprising considering polls show he would stil be re-elected. You guys lost, get over it. Start fixing your own party before bashing Bush.

While this highly subjective article may or may not accurately represent the facts, it is irrelevant and pointless as he is in fact a lame duck. As one who is not affiliated with any party, I am still waiting for some of the democrats to start presenting some positive information on any of their party leaders, who they think will be a good presidential candidate for their party, and why anyone should support said candidate hopeful(s) in the next election.

So far they seem content to continue to bash a lame duck instead of presenting anything in the way of good alternatives for electing another from the opposition. All this time available to start casting a positive light on their beloved party and it's being squandered.

That's the democratic party. No ideas, just hate Bush.

I would not worry about Dubya's ship sinking.  Your trolley has left its tracks.

Earth to Zink, come in Major Zink..........

I think it is a testament to how well you think these things out that you could even attempt to call Iraq a "horrific war". Crack a book.

What exactly do you hope to accomplish with this post, zink? This is just a rehash of old pre-election talking points. Titanic... spare us the melodramatic silliness, please.

This is just more of the same scattershot whining, bashing, nothing-better-to-offer garbage we keep hearing ad nauseum from the left. The left must be absolutely convinced that if they just keep twiddling their prayer beads and saying, "They sky is falling. The sky is falling." that the sky really will fall. I can only conclude that they have no hope of any meaningful political success unless & until the country collapses in a dungheap and they can can hop on their white horses & pretend to dash to our rescue, so they're doing everything they can to either see it happen or convince us, against all actual evidence, that the collapse has occurred. Meantime, the economy's pretty damn good, thank you very much, the deficit is declining faster than predicted even by the Administration, tax revenues are up despite the tax cuts (gasp!), the transition to self-rule and self-security is going well in Iraq (despite the non-stop reporting of nothing but the bad news, of which there is enough), a wave of democratic reform is gaining strength throughout the Middle East and some of Bush's harshest critics are beginning to acknowledge that his approach to the problem of the political stagnation in the Middle East is paying off.

I ain't buying what zink is selling.

Cheers,
Daiwa

I post what I see. If you don't like it, I really don't give a shit. It's what I see. I'm not asking you to buy it. I ain't chargin' any money to read it. It's what I see. But, do tell....or not....... why do you guys post the rightie bushwacked nonsense that you post? Moderateman posts crap only to demean, insult and blabber on rather incoherently and partially illiterately about his disdain for liberals. I sure don't buy his garbage. Why does he post it? Because he wants to. He posts what he sees. Period.

I don't buy into your rightie crap and garbage. And, I do believe that when the shit called Congress and the Downing Street memos, and all the fallout from the war, etc. hits the fan, aren't you all gonna look like a bunch of jingo jerks. That's the way I see it.

You post what you choose to believe. That's cool. I posted my opinion of your opinion and gave you reasons why I'm not buying what you claim you ain't selling. Your anger is misplaced - if you're going to give, be prepared to get and don't take it personally. If you want to invite polite discussion of specific issues, please do so. But don't throw bombs and get all huffy when a few are lobbed back. You look childish when you do.

The so-called Downing Street memos, by the way, are nothing but hearsay and I fear you're going to be quite disappointed if you're expecting them to lead to the left's salvation or any sort of victory dance.

It's so funny to see how desperate you people are that you think these "memos" are going to do anything. These "memos" do not prove your wacky conspiracy theories.

~"the war in Iraq is only going badly for those who want it to"~

Wow...who out there is "wanting" the the war to go bad?...disagreeing with the reasoning behind the war, or not liking Bush's stance on it doesn't mean one "wants" it to go bad...I don't agree with the war, and I hate that people are getting killed or hurt out there every freaking day (my cousin's unit was almost hit a month back), but I still want the military to be successful and to get back here soon.

As for Bush...well, I see it this way: He is not my favorite person in the world, but he is going to be a great source of entertainment for me these next few years. I can't do anything about him being elected again, and whining will get me nowhwere, so I may as well find a bright side...

YOu scare me.  If you are a democrat, then it means that some of them are moving on and planning for the future.

You have a very healthy attitude.  Perhaps you should take over Dean's job?

Just visit the DU, they openly express that they want the war to fail. Just read some of the posts here, and you will see the same attitude.

Too bad the democratic party doesn't see it that way.

Great, doggie. Just show me one post where anyone from any side wants the war to go badly. Righties are so full of shit when it comes to demonizing their opposition. I hate this war. I think that bush lied. I think that cheney and the rest of these non-conservatives lied. They got us into a miserable quaqmire and extricating ourselves from it is not going to be easy. But, in no way would I ever, ever wish that the war goes badly. That's bullshit. So, again, please show me one post where liberals want to see more death and destruction. Sonnovabitch............

I don't entirely disagree with you, latour. In fact, Kerry was more right wing conservative than the righties here would ever want anyone to believe. He was not the lefto whacko liberal demon that people like dog, docs or mod would want anyone to believe. He was a thinly veiled conservative.

But, having said that, I really, really think that the rightie bushies have failed this country most miserably. And, our only hope in salvaging the mess is to elect the democrats back in. That is what I am diligently working towards. I still care.

Unfortunately (or fortunately, depending), if your objective is to elect more Democrats, belittling and bashing Republicans, absent any constructive ideas for bettering things, is a strategy certain to fail. You're certainly not going to persuade any conservatives or moderates ("rightie bushies" as you so creatively and collectively denigrate them) to give thoughtful consideration to your ideas (assuming Democrats come up with some) using the methods you've employed here. And you will need to do so if there is to be any chance for Democrats to make a comeback. What you're doing here is akin to screaming at a mirror.

Did you go to the site? Did you read?  You cant avoid it.  So you are just being dishonest.  That is so typical of Liberals.
