Post not showing in Wallpaper Gallery

I just need to know why I had a wall accepted here at wincustomize and it's in my gallery but not the main Wallpaper gallery. Am I missing something??

No, your not missing anything. It's a new 'feature' whereby wallpapers which would previously have not made it through moderation can now be put into the author's gallery instead.

Thanks Fuzzy Logic. I must admit though that the guidelines for submissions are rather scattershot. I also believe the site has lost a lot of great artists that used to submit here but don't anymore because of that.
It's really too bad. I just don't see where some of my work is less than others that make it. I have tried different avenuse to comply and been shot down and then I look at what's accepted and I'm baffled.
I don't want you to think this is sour grapes. It isn't. I just felt I needed to state my thoughts.
Thanks for taking the time to give me a reply.

Hi Blues!
This is one of the more sensitive subjects here, and while I am not an admin, I think that I can confidently say that they are looking for very unique or original ideas. The best artists get shot down here at times, while novices often get accepted. It's kind of like fishing in that way. The tournament fisherman can get skunked and an 8 year old boy can catch a lunker. Don't take it personally (as so many including myself have in the past). This is not an "art" site. It's a skinning site.

I'm not taking it personally. I also realize this is a skinning site. That's why I'm a subscriber. I love some of the skinners work and admire them for what they can do. But I would be wrong in not saying that I do see some preferential treatment in walls and who gets accepted. I do pay attention to this. I haven't been uploading here much so maybe that's part of it. Thanks for the reply Sleeping Dragon. I'll give it another try and see what happens!!

I do see some preferential treatment in walls and who gets accepted.

There 'may' be some people whose works are universally accepted....but that is due to their access level enabling their works to bypass moderation.  It is a benefit of longevity/contribution to/within the skinning community.  It is not something whereby a Moderator shows preferential treatment to one individual.

Our new-fangled option for having some works show in Personal Pages only means that generally more works can/will be accepted, again a boon to those who subscribe and have a 'Personal Page'....

Thanks for the info Jafo. I believe I have a personal page, but I'm not sure where or how to set it up. I know that sounds ignorant but I was looking last night on how to create with avatar etc. No luck. I'll try again. As far as access level I believe I am a 5.

As far as access level I believe I am a 5.

You're confusing the Access class with the User level....

Access Class: Citizen (1)
User Level: Subscriber (5)

Yes I am confused. What gives you a higher Access Class?? I really want to understand this. I know that I was getting some of my work posted in the gallery and now I'm not.
My point is this, I see a wall in the gallery that wasn't much more than someone photocopying a pic and maybe doing a little postwork on it and because of their "Access Level" it gets put in the gallery?? Yet others who take the time and effort to do a nice piece that they believe people would want to use get shot down because of the moderators whims??

Heya bluesman...here is a link that explains the Access classes Link basically if you are around here for a while and contribute skins or help in the forums or just in general, you access level will go up. That said, the wallpaper section here is a whole different situation from what I see and the most heavily moderated library on the site. If you try to second guess what you see being accepted and what is rejected, you will either get pissed off that your stuff is better than what you see there, or wonder who's getting preferential treatment. The best way I've found to approach the wall library is to just submit your work and if it's accepted, great, if not, fine too. There are plenty of other sites that are more wall and art oriented and you will get more looks at your work there anyway. The idea here is that they don't want a lot of the same kinds of walls over and over, so they look for something that's different (from what I've seen posted in the forums in threads such as this) I don't know, half the work that gets in there I can't see how it was accepted, but it's just not something to get worked up about. If you're gonna get mad if it's rejected, then that's a bad way to think here, because I know a lot of really talented guys that get rejected here and post most of there work elsewhere now.
The bottom line for me here as far as the wall library goes, is..."Damn, how did that make it? " or "Why did that one get rejected and I had to see it at another site? This probably sounds confusing, but so is the subject here.

Thanks Boss. I appreciate your input. I'm not mad by any means. It just doesn't make a lot of sense to me. Someone who contributes really good skins for say WB's can get a wall posted just because of his access level, even though that wall is really not up to snuff in creativity as is his or hers skins??
As for the art sights, I agree, I'm a member of Deviantart and have a fairly large gallery there. But I know that's what it's for. I sometimes will post a image just to get feedback on it so as to improve or gain another viewpoint on what I can do. That's not the case here. I try very hard to appease the moderator with something that I believe will be enjoyed and d/led for others to use on their DT. I'm not just uploading for my pleasure. I'm trying to contribute. I'm really not trying to tick anyone off here. I really enjoy this site. It was the first one I found when I started looking into this whole world of skinning and have been here daily since. Hope this all makes sense to you. Again thanks for the input.

Yeah bluesman, it makes sense. I know your site well at DA and they will post everything, which is great. But you won't find nearly the amount of skins there that they have here. It's just a different kind of site. I find lots of things there also that I don't find here. If you were uploading a Rainlendar or an icon or a Widget, it would get posted as long as it's not a rip. But if you want to see most of your walls accepted here, it's going to happen or not. It doesn't reflect on your quality at all, just on what the site and the moderators want the wall library to be, which in my opinion isn't very good. I get most of the walls I use elsewhere. But for everything else, this is one of the best sites with the most quality content you can find

Just so everyone knows, a note will appear on the acceptance email letting those authors know that their submission was only accepted to their personal gallery.

Thanks boss. I agree with your assessment, this is the best place for skins. I enjoy WB's, Icon Packager, etc very much. I just wanted to be a little more active in this community. Since I don't skin I try to post walls for people to use. Also, I don't upload a lot for a good reason. I don't want them to think I'm trying to overload there moderators. I only upload when I have a image that I believe someone would want.
Andrew, thanks for the note. I appreciate them doing that, but it really doesn't make me feel any better about it.
