The second beta crashes after colonizing a planet.

I had this problem with the first beta and its probably my graphics card. I have a custom built notebook with a nvidia geforce fx video card. The nvidia website doesn't support notebook graphic cards and they referred me to the manufacturer which is not comming out with a new driver. Since I was hanging around for GalCiv2 and it doesn't work on my computer I will not be renewing my subscription with total gaming network. The people developing the game could have at least posted that they couldn't fix this problem. I sent a zip file with the requested files that had the bug information the first time this happened after the first beta came out. I just did so again. But I don't think it will ever be fixed so unless someone wants to buy me a new computer I'm saying goodbye.

hey uglycow,

I can't seem to find your email...could you re-send the zip file to [email protected]?  More likely, if youre having the problem someone else will have it too, so it we'll do our best to fix it.

Thanks!

Ugly cow, checkout http://www.laptopvideo2go.com. You may find drivers that work wit your NVIDIA card.

Also, I have an Nvidia GeForceFX card in my laptop and I have no problems running Gal Civ 2, so I suspect that it's something else causing your problem.  If you were having problems due to your video card, I doubt that you'd have gotten that far.

I might be wrong but I think that makes 3 stardock employees on the case

Don't forget that this is the beta uglycow, we're supposed to be finding the problems so these people can fix them for us! I've not got into beta2 properly yet but it looks like I may have a crash problem or two myself, not sure on specifics yet. I did have a problem getting beta2 to get past the game setup screens, it was crashing out when I tried to start the campaign, but I've updated my nvidia driver and got it to create the galaxy and play. More on my performance state later.

In the good news, I can already see the game has come on alot since Beta1, it looks like there is an AI at work, building ships and fighting! Woohoo!

This is the point of beta... to find these strange problems and to fix them. You may be experiencing a problem that others will later down the road, if you leave now, the problem may not get fixed, and others may suffer for it as you have.

And it's only beta 2... The game is still about 9 months away from release, so there's a LOT that still needs to be fix, a lot that still needs to be implemented etc. Just because your bug hasn't been fixed yet doesn't mean it won't.
