The beta 2 won't accept my serial number

I have a current Total-Gaming Netowrk subscription and I enterd my email address and the serial number for that subscription for the activation of the beta 2. The thing gave me a message that there was an error activating the product. I entered the serial number in at least 8 times just to be sure, and my email address too. Every time I got the same message. I better not have to buy the galciv2 game seperatley. Help please. Thanks.

I am having the exact same problem. I have tried entering in every serial for every account I have with them to no luck (including the serial I got for my initial GCII dl).

never mind... I read Frogboy's post (in the forum) and everything is running great now!! Much impressed - can't wait to delve in and start helping!

The activation dialog is not asking for a GC2 serial or a TG.net serial. It's asking for an activation key, which we didn't send out, because SDC was supposed to handle the activation.  However, SDC is only handling the activation when you install for the first time, not during an update.  So you should be able to fix it by archiving, uninstalling, and restoring GalCiv2 using SDC.

I had the same problem after updating my Beta1 install to Beta2, but fixed it through Star Dock Central like CariElf says.

If that activation box comes up go to SDC.
Click on GCII.
At the buttom of the screen there is an uninstall button, use it.
Download again and let SDC reinstall for you.
This time SDC will have activated the game automatically.
You can then run GCII from SDC.

ok i did what carielf said to and it still asks for the activation key!

why not just give us all activation keys?

There's hundreds of us doing this at the moment, thats quite alot of keys.

So you have uninstalled and run stardock to download and reinstall?

I have uninstalled and reinstalled 4 times now. As ALWAYS it asks for the activation key when you go to run the application..

Ok CariElf .. I've followed your example to the T. I've archived the application uninstalled the applicaiton and restored the application..

Now, right after it restores I see that it registers the product and then it says installation successful. HOWEVER, upon running the application it prompts for the Activation Key.

Now what do I need to do?

-Thanks
Andrew (who is still waiting for an email from kwilas and two from support).

Andrew, do you have a sig.bin file in your galciv2 folder?

RaGod,

Do you have any firewalls, including Windows XP firewall which was installed with SP2, that might be blocking the activation?  Do you have a sig.bin file in your Galciv2 folder? Did you get any errors from SDC when updating/installing?

i HAVE firewalls but i turned them all off and followed your examples, nope no file called sig.bin file, and no error messages

We'll be releasing an update to SDC which may help in a few hours or so, but make sure that your firewalls stay off while you're trying the new build.

There is a new build of SDC available which may help some of you who are still having troubles.

Of course, after the update, Gal Civ II no longer appears in my list of games... Whups

Possibly due to a case of bad timing, I had just uninstalled it to try the reinstall method of fixing things, when SDC discovered the new upgrade. I did the upgrade, which may have been the mistake.

GCII still shows up in Show/Hide, and Registration Info (where it thinkgs its registered), any ideas?

yah it just disapeared on me too...any ideas on how to get it back?

It's the newest SDC revision, apparently...

If you uninstall and switch to the version of SDC at SDCentral, you'll be able to download Beta 2.005.

Andrew who is still waiting for support to write him.... has done the following

ghee wiz after I start SDC it tells me to upgrade I do.. and guess what no GalGiv2 to uninstall or install. But lucky for me IBNobody clues me in that the "new improved" version is faulty humm in the famous voice of Gomer Pile .. "Surprise Surprise Surprise!"

Well after deinstalled the new version of SDC I uninstalled the GalCiv2 and DELETED the directory. So I have new fresh install and I"M STILL HAVING PROBLEMS. Of course i'm sure that is no surprise.

SO WHAT DO I DO NEXT TO GET THIS WORKING?!

Thanks for your support
Andrew
