Planet graphics: rock, gas and ice

I think that it is probably not a possibility. But is there any possibility to see gas giants and icy planets? This is also a feature which can have effects on wether a planet is bigger/smaller and good/bad quality (in whattever way).

In terms of 'seeing' inhospitable worlds, that's in. Alot of the class 0 planets have a gas giant/ball of ice look about them. Actual game effects, well going off beta 1 it looks like gas giants and other class 0 are uninhabitable.

if the dev team has time. perhaps somewhere int eh tech tree, there could be special things like research stations or 'cloud cities' or minig facilities available. also, maybe the gas giants would actually be big.

I really think that gas and icy planets are part of people's "view of the universe". We could also talk about planets like Saturn with rings, but that might be fancy (dunno).

it would be good if there were a true sence of terraforming.

so when you get to a high level, you can actually turn gas giants etc into usable planets, i.e a random usabiltity of like 1-20 etc

There are planets with rings and planets with moons. If you have access to the beta, check out the moon as it passes the dark side of the planet.

I would imagine you would have many 'dead' planets that you could mine for minerals, or blow up and turn into asteroid belts. In every science fiction universe there seems to be inhospitable planets which are being mined, exploited and used as refueling ports, as well as places to launce sneak attacks from , but I guess GalCiv takes care of the refueling with space stations.

Good Idea. In fact next week a bunch of my buddies and I are gonna go terraform mars, and harvest the moon man's flesh to make space jerky. We have another suspended animation capsule if you want to come, but you have to bring the beer. (26,000 metric liters should hold us)
