Own Playlist: "What is cool music while playing GalCiv?"

I like Celtic Music, and Lord of The Rings Soundtrack.  Sometimes 80s music.

Lately my playlist has been the new Radiohead album, a bunch of Flaming Lips stuff, and old Jamiroquai.

For a while my playlist was a lot of Leroy Anderson's work at the Boston Pops. Something about a space-game just goes well with a symphony. (Maybe Star Trek and 2001 are responsible for that.)

some classical symphonies would be also nice, but not anything like Radetzky Marsch.. Some Pachelbel's Canon or that kind of nice music..

The Yors have a pretty good soothing music for their theme. Most classical minuets are pretty good, and some waltzs are ok. I personally like classical dance scores because they upbeat, but not such that they would put you over the edge with excitement.

I don't know about that. If the playing environment is noisy, I might resort to that. Predicable loud music is better than random noise. But under normal circumstances, no.

Revolution, from Doctor Zhivago, Original score from Stargate. March Slave. The original score portion of Crimson tide. LOTR soundtrack. Stuff like that. Gets ya in the mood for conquering. hehe

If we're on soundtracks, how about Star Trek: The Motion(less) Picture? If you're looking for something trance-inducing, there's nothing better than that endless "V'ger" piece. Bet EBZeroMatrix could get an entire game in during that one.

I use the music from Star Trek Armada, that really gives me the space feeling.

Godsmack, Metallica, G'N'R, Evanescence, etc.

I have a wide variety of music I prefer to listen to while playing GalCiv. Sometimes I feel like some Steve Roach (The Magnificent Void, etc). Other times I dig blues rock (The Black Keys). When I want a jazz/U.K. hip-hop fix I go for The Herbaliser. Can't beat their innovation and playfulness.

However, recently I have been listening to Amon Tobin - he's a Brazilian DJ/composer who specializes in breakbeat/ambient/drum-n-bass with some hip-hop beats thrown in. There's nothing quite like it. First time I listened to his material I thought it was just noise. But repeated listens revealed intense structure in the music. Now I have Tobin playing everywhere I go.

When i was coding GalCiv, I listend to the Willow sound track a lot. The movie isn't that great but the sound track is excellent.

Pontius, March Slave is quite possibly the best piece of classical music ever! But Metallica, Cake, some Weezer. Hey, when your ships are smashing the AI's, any kind of rock will do!
