Recently I was in Microcenter and I picked up a box for a pretty cool looking game, I mean if you have a lizardman in space it's got to be cool right? I looked at the back of the box and recoiled in horror; a game like MOO, but so much more so. This game was about to eat my life. I purchased the game like a fool, and then realized I had about 400 things to do in the real world before I could invest my time in a wonderful looking game, so after I had driven 3 miles down the road, I turned around and returned the game. I wanted to research it first, and check prices before I bought it. That game of course was Galactic Civilizations Deluxe. So I went home did about 27 of the 400 things and took a break to research it. It seems this is a very well rated game by some (and average by others), but now that 2 is coming out, why should I stay behind the times? (And it looks like in GalCiv, you can play that Lizardman race. Awesome.) My question are these; should I purchase it, and play in the betas, or wait for other beta stages? Also is this game multiplayer? I can't seem to find definitive data on that. Also on the race creation, has anyone ever considered allowing people to create their own races (models, animations, voice scripts and all) and then have the developers pick the ones that they feel come up to their standards and incorporate them into the game? Bottom line; is it worth it? I have to ask you guys because if you trust the video magazine reviewers, you may be trusting someone who doesn't really care about technology trees, and science institute upgrade lvl 3.
