Democrats again try to bring back military draft

Actually just one (looney) Democrat. Charlie Rangel (who is very much a disgrace to the Democratic party, in my opinion, and a disgrace to voters from New York that keep sending him back to Congress).

Just to spread the word and place the blame for this plenty early (so that Democrats can't point at the Republican party and try to place blame for bringing back the draft), here's the news, taken from print edition of The Washington Post, which credits -- From News Services:

Rangel Reintroduces Bill To Bring Back Military Draft

Rep. Charles B. Rangel (D-N.Y.) announced that he has reintroduced legislation to reinstate the military draft.
He said his decision was prompted in part by a crisis in military recruiting. Enlistments have declined by 30 percent in recent months.

Rangel, and his friends, want to turn military recruiting into a political hot potato. Rangel and friends have tried in the past (mostly unsuccessfully) to say that deaths in the military are disproportionately affecting minorities, and have also tried (again, mostly unsuccessfully) to say that military recruits are too often made up of minorities.

In order to rectify that problem, Rangel wants to give the government the right to indenture citizens of all races, creeds, and upbringings so that rich white folks will get to see their children called to war just as redneck children, poor black children, hispanics and others (in the eyes of Rangel) do.

Too bad Rangel's Democratic friends like Ted Kennedy, Hillary Clinton, Harry Reid, Nancy Pelosi, Barbara Boxer and others have no intention of letting themselves be the party that brought back the draft. (And for that matter, the entire GOP has basically thumbed their nose at the idea of bringing back the draft, as there is no need to do so, and conscripted soldiers typically are not as willing to fight as are people that volunteer for service).

I would not put Boxer in the list you did.  She is stupid enough to support him.

But it all goes back to the origin of hate bush.  In that they are consistent.  If stupid.

That may be true, but Boxer (like others on the left) is certainly no friend of the military -- unless and until we are talking about the possibility of shutting down a few bases and killing off some jobs. At that point, all of the lefties start crying and trying to show themselves to be supporters of the military.

yea, funny how that is, aint it?  They only like the military when they are sitting around doing nothing but drawing pay checks!

And they call us hypocrites!  Uh, Huh!

I guess he has to try the bill again since their conspiracy theory that Bush was going to start the draft again didn't work.

Hey, it's getting to the point that we will actually have to start drafting people, or cut back on dubya's follies.

You pick!
