Straight off the front page: "Beta 2 will be available to those woh have pre-ordered the game in about two weeks." -Frogboy, May 20.

Yep, that's about the right time frame.  I left E3 and went directly to another trade show (IT ChannelVision).  When I get back, I'll have a better idea where the team is on the beta.

Does that mean beta2 will be available for TG.NET subscribers?

Yes , when the cats away the mice do play. Two week slippage in the "May" beta. Please do me a favor. Don't in the future
say a beta release will be available by a certain time. It builds up expectations. When it doesn't come, like this 2 week delay,
it really causes a big let down.

I suspect it's going to get delayed a couple more weeks. Stardock is physically moving locations in the next several days to a new building. That's probably going to disrupt things as well.

LIke my high school geometry teacher used to tell us: "Say what you mean and mean what you say"'.
Words to live by. God rest her soul.

I don't know who you are and you certainly don't know me. I have been a Stardock customer while you were still in diapers.
I have a right to gripe when inaccurate information is posted to customers. If you don't like that you wet your own diaper!

Well, looking a this thread https://www.galciv2.com/Forums.aspx?ForumID=162&AID=64347, you see that the various milestones were indicated in beginning of February. And lots of things can happen that lead to pushing the various dates. I am pretty sure that the dates where accurate at the time they were given.

And there is something strange: you want Stardock to give you dates for the availability of the beta. They can honestly give only expected dates: the dates they give aren't set in the stone. but you expect otherwise. Very strange.

BTW, I don't know if all the bugs hunting for the first beta was correctly evaluated. Maybe the feedback on the first beta has given more works than expected when setting expected dates in february.

haha... It's awesome how you start your post with "I don't know who you are and you certainly don't know me" and then say "I have been a Stardock customer while you were still in diapers". I have been around since the begining. Trust me, people know me and it isn't for my whining.

That is not what happened and I resent the implication that we would slack off because Brad was not in town.

I would be offended too. You guys work hard and are known for having great PR. I know thats why I keep sticking around.

It looks like CariElf needs a trip to the shrine.

Believe me, I've had time to do little else but test out the next beta release of GalCiv 2. Everyone has been very busy working to hit the milestone we want.

Software development isn't an exact science. So all the whiners demanding a date should just go stuff their head in a refrigerator for a while until they have cooled off. If you want a well done game, then don't "demand" it be delivered by a certain date. That's what is wrong with most of the game industry. They have to deliver their products by a certain hard date, and whatever state the software is in, well, that's its shape when its sent off. That's why every mainstream retail game has to be patched, and the patches are generally made available even before the software is on the retailers shelf!

Lay off the Star Dockians. Remember, we are being given the privilege of being beta testers! The actual product we pre-orderers are owed is the "production release"! That's a long time for now! Total Gaming Subscribers are being given a "sneak peak" and are being given the privilege of participating in the development of GC2! (ie, being a beta tester)

Star Dock goes way out of its way to support us, and to give us a great product. They don't deserve being whined at and being insulted because someone doesn't have a beta release on "his" machine when "he" wanted it. Now, if Star Dock slides that production release of GC2 by 9 months, then we all will have something to whine about. But that is the only GC2 deliverable that anyone on this forum has been promised to us. And at this point, Star Dock hasn't committed to a final, firm date that GC2 will be available.

I understand what your saying but my quote of Brad was from the beginning of May. There should not have been a 2-3 week slippage in that short period of time. I think, more likekly, that he made his estimate off the cuff. Could have been a long
day and he wasn't entirely focused. It happens to the best.

E3 tends to put a monkey wrench in things as things have to be prettied up for the press.

The other thing going on that was not anticipated is that our company is physically moving to a brand-new building.  You want to tal about slippage -- we were SUPPOSED to be in that building "no later" than March 31.  But construction and finishing of the building took them longer than expected and now migration is occuring in the middle of our beta 2 phase.

I know how THAT feels, I've been there myself. The company I was with (a furntiure manufacturer) was moving premises and it was chaos. The new building wasn't empty when we were meant to take control, the builders were late going in, it turned out that although the building we wrre moving into was an industrial unit, it didn't have an industrial power supply so one had to be installed, we were due to be out before the place was ready so we ended up sharing with builders for a couple of weeks. I spent a couple of days on my own in the new office manning the phone as the old place was disconnected, so it was me, the builders, a phone and no heat in mid janruary. I think the factory was out of action for a month instead of the planned week. I don't envy you guys at stardock one bit, and I was only the placement student at the time!
