WC Updates (5-20-05)

Trying to fix some of those pesky errors

Ok,  I have managed to finally turn my attention towards WinCustomize today and have a few updates to report. :)

  • I think I finally have fixed the broken smileys in the main thread/topic/post.  Posts previously made will still have broken images but new posts should work.  (fingers crossed)
  • Logoff bug should be squashed
  • Object reference not set to an instance of an object.  I've added some more error handling that should hopefully catch some of those pesky errors.  However, as I am catching these errors it is possible that I will expose some new errors, but this should be a good thing as it should be easier for us to identify those errors and fix them and they should be more specific to the problem.
  • I also have done some extra database handling in the forums section that should help out quite a bit.  Basically if an error occurs while connecting to to the database when loading the forum list it will try the secondary database.  So hopefully this will cut down alot on those errors when our database is acting up.
  • I also did a little tuning on the database that will hopefully cut down on some of the connection issues that we have been having.

So  hopefully with these changes we should see a bit of an improvement over the weekend.  Please post here with any problems you experience within the next few days.  Thanks!

Logoff bug should be squashed

That's where it half-logs-out, where is says:

Welcome !

Instead of:

Welcome, Meowy!

ditto on the "There was an error logging the Error to the Database."

Followed by

An Error Occurred There was a problem opening /Forums.aspx.
Whatever you were trying to do, it didn't work out the way you expected.
You could go back and try again, or perhaps return to the Home Page.

In all essence the site runs better than it has, and is more zippy ...just the occasional glitch ...
