GNOME features an intuitive graphical user interface that allows users to easily locate information, access menus, complete tasks, launch applications and personalize their work environment. GNOME is also a web-enabled desktop with many built-in features that make accessing resources on the web simple or, in some cases, automatic. For instance, browsing a remote FTP site is as easy as browsing your local file system. GNOME 2.0 will support many of the standards necessary in a networked environment, such as XML, HTTP, HTML, POP and iCalendar.

Hm... Is this the GNOME desktop system you are talking about? It is currently in version 2.4 and does not belong to Sun, even though I think that they do use it in their products.

Please correct me if I'm wrong.
