Teachers' Unions and the State of Schooling: America's New Joke?

Teachers' Unions and the State of Schooling: America's New Joke?

Teachers' Unions have effectively crippled the American educational system. No longer can teachers be fired for being incompetent. Now they get to stay unless they do something like molest a student. That is bunk, no matter how you look at it.

In addition, the fact that teachers have little to no control over the kids in their classroom is garbage. I like particularly how a ridiculously large amount of 'learning disabilities' have been stapled onto kids who are out of control. They don't have 'learning disabilities' they just know how to control the teacher and the classroom. People like that should be kicked out of school entirely. I understand their are exceptions to this, but for the most part it is untrue. Also, having math classes below pre-algebra in high school is unacceptable. If you can't do basic math by the time of high school, drop out now and save some cash. Also, having remedial reading classes and reading classes for kids who are from another country and can't speak english is a total waste of time. If you can't speak the language, then DON'T MOVE TO THIS FREAKING COUNTRY.

Thanks

Tell me Messy, Which native American tribe do you belong to?

Native Americans aren't the only people born and raised in the U.S. Anybody who's graduated high school should know that.

I believe the point was, and since I was trying to make it, I should know, that the only people who are "native" to America, are the Native Americans. Obviously it takes a higher form of irony to pick up on that. But since I'm a Ph.D, and you're what? a high school graduate? I guess we can understand that.

Oh, and if that sounded condescending, it was supposed to.

Here's what I received for the definition of native:
1. inborn: existing in or belonging to someone by nature
2. born or originating somewhere: born or originating in a particular place
3. relating to somebody because of birth: relating or belonging to somebody or something because of the place or circumstances of birth
4. indigenous: originating, produced, growing, or living naturally in a place
5. local, especially aboriginal, inhabitants: characteristic of, belonging to, or relating to the indigenous inhabitants of a particular place, particularly those with a traditional culture
6. not externally affected: unaffected by artificial or outside influences
7. chemical elements occurring naturally: found in nature, especially in a pure or unadulterated form
native copper
8. computing for a particular computer system: designed exclusively for a particular computer operating system
n (plural na·tives)
1. someone born in particular place: someone born or brought up in a particular place
a native of BirminghamM

2. indigenous inhabitant: an original indigenous inhabitant of a place
3. offensive term: an offensive term for an original inhabitant of a place belonging to an indigenous non-Caucasian people with a traditional culture, as distinct from a colonial settler and immigrant (dated)
4. botany zoology indigenous plant or animal species: a plant or animal species that originates from a particular area

Now, unless those with PhDs have access to some Super Dictionary with real definitions that define those born in the United States of America as immigrants of the U.S., I'm afraid that I'll stick to this primitive definition which says that since I was born and brought up in the US, that I am a native of it, and that somebody who wasn't born and brought up in it, such as an immigrant, is not.

Nope, my super secret dictionary just relates to point 4 and 5 of your definition. So, yes, you are a native, but then so are those people who are born in the United States, but speak Spanish. So, going to the heart of your issue. Natives can speak whatever language they like, right? If you can impose your language on them, surely they can impose theirs on you.

Curious no?
